Alternative facts.
Technically we are tied for 8th in the Big Ten, but you go ahead and keep believing what you do.
Freshmen learning they can't just show up and win like HS. Have to work hard and earn it every time.
The coach is I'm charge of roster management. Unless a school is loosing a bunch of players early I can't take the "We are a young team" excuse. This is the team Fran built this far into his tenure.
I guess reading standings isn't your strong suit. When two or more teams have the same record they have the same standing. Thus 7 teams have a better record meaning 3-5 is good for 8th. 6 teams are currently 8th in the B1G with a 3-5 record. There is no 13th place team at the current time.
come on dude figure it out we are tied with other teams for 8th. they could put at the top of the list doesnt mean we are in 8th place .
I tend to agree with you; however, I am going to wait until the season has concluded to to finalize my conclusion on the season. I would like to add that Coach Fran's ceiling, as of his 7th season, was a couple of first round wins in the NCAA tournament- giving him the benefit of the doubt as to the depths that Lick left the program, which I do not subscribe to but for the sake of argument I will concede to it. Coach Fran's low water mark appears to be a .500 season with his own recruits.
In comparison, the Virginia Cavaliers suffered through Pete Gillian and Dave Leitao which saw them go to two NCAA Tournaments in 2001 (5 seed) and 2007 (4 seed) from 1998-2009 until Tony Bennett arrived from Washington State. Virginia won big under Terry Holland during the 80s and had several Final 4 and Elite 8 runs. Jeff Jones was able to get to the NCAA Tournament 6 seasons with and Elite 8 and Sweet 16, which is very similar to what Dr. Tom was able to produce at Iowa. Virginia is not considered a blue blood team that just any coach can win at and I understand that they are situated in a high population area, but look at the teams that they have to compete with on the East Coast. Tony Bennett's high water mark is and Elite 8 and appears to be heading to another NCAA Tournament.
We shall see if Coach Fran can ever get Iowa to a level that compares to what Tony Bennett has delivered at Virginia.

What they do is list the teams tied with the same record in the league with the one with the best overall record first. & so down the line.Before games today, Sat., Iowa is tied with 6 teams for 8th and is listed before Nebraska who is 9-11 overall, even though they beat Iowa. I remember last year being p***ed because we were tied with some other team and had just got done beating them but were listed below them because they had won one more game overall. Or something like that.
