Iowa #16, ISU #17 in Updated AP Rankings

This was supposed to be ISU's Final Four year! And here we are in mid Jan and we're ranked above them, love it haha.

Well, yes, Iowa lost to ISU, BUT Iowa gave it away at the end, and STILL only lost by ONE point, so any clown who wants to brag about a lucky one-point win at home, go right ahead. The season is more than one game.

How was that win lucky? ISU adjusted their second half defense to contain Uthoff which worked, forced turnovers at the end using their press and made big shots. Iowa controlled the game for 25 minutes or so but then ISU got back into the game. It's not like Iowa was missing FT's down the strtech or anything. ISU outscored Iowa 48-33 in the second half, I guess I don't see luck involved in that.

By that standard, Baylor got lucky Saturday....which ain't what happened. In both cases, either team could have won and the team that did, deserved it.

Of course you don't, you're an ISU fan.

Iowa blowing an 8 point lead in a minute was in larg part due to their own stupid mistakes.

Not using the timeout to save TWO turnovers, having all 9 players stacked up on one side of the court.

Lots of stupid there on Iowas part.

ISU did a lot of stupid things down the stretch against Baylor. I don't consider Baylor lucky.

Iowa gave up 48 points in the second half to ISU. That's why they lost

I would LOVE to play Iowa State again, especially on a neutral court. They are nothing special in a tough Big 12 this year. They could finish 4th or 5th. Iowa is the better team and showed it for 39 of 40 minutes of game play last month on the road in Ames.

Iowa showed they were the better team for all but one minute of the second half but they gave up 48 points and got outscored by 15?

Just as UAB deserved to beat isu this past March. It sure hasn't stopped clone fans from saying isu gave that game away.

For those interested in such things, Bracketology has both Iowa and ISU as #4 seeds. Iowa trending up, Clones trending down.

Who would have thought you can't play all your starters 35+ min/game? Steve Prohm sees no problem with this.

Iowa St. is one minute away and one 3 pointer away from being 10-5 and not ranked with the sky falling. They should feel very happy at being ranked #17.

I agree, they are also one 3 pointer away from being 13-2 with a road win against a top 3 team too

It will be interesting to see how the grind of the season impacts isu at the end. Will they be able to be fresh and motivated to play in the tourney or will they be ready for it to be over and move on kind of like they did this past March?

This is great, now that game is going to bother Iowa fans more and more as the year goes on. We are starting to hear similar excuses to various football losses to ISU (e.g. we came out flat, we blew the game at the end, etc.). No credit for stealing in-bounds passes, making huge 3 pointers and free throws at the end, Monte making a clutch floater to win it... nope, ISU did nothing to win that game.

Anyone notice Purdue got spanked by 14 by a bad Illinois team last night? We all know MSU was without Valentine. Of course the awesome win against Nebraska at home. But now all of a sudden Iowa is this powerhouse team that can't be stopped. I wouldn't get too far ahead of yourselves.... it's cute though.

I know after going 1-6 against ISU the last 7 years you are starting to get very frustrated, so it's understandable.

On the bright side, a sub par year this year could mean the return of Monte Morris.

On the down side, your roster next year is at best a team very much on the bubble or NIT bound - and your recruiting class is already ranked behind Iowa's and looking to add a JUCO player with zero P5 offers.

Thought we'd have to wait a year until the tide had completely turned, but it looks like it's happened a year early.

LOL - All I saw from ISU fans on twitter on Saturday was March is all that matters, our team is fine. Well if March is all that matters - then I guess your season last year really sucked then, right? I wouldn't be surprised if ISU lost first rd again this upcoming year. The school built a statue of a coach that had a losing Big 8/12 record overall and made it to 1 Sweet 16. Its all about expectations. Dr. Tom's career was hands down better than Orr and I don't see a statue or restaurant at the arena in his name. Continue with your cyclone state, we are a basketball school fantasy tho

Really, an ISU fan wants to bring up football? Seriously, how dumb do you have to be to even dangle this out there. You know your arguments are getting pretty weak when you are ripping Iowa for barely beating a top 25 team on the road, LOL! You're ranked below us in a year you thought you were going to be in the final four. That has to hurt. You're best win is over Iowa, and you lost to UNI. You should be thanking Iowa for crapping our pants that last minute, or you wouldn't even be ranked right now.

Iowa State didn't get "lucky" for the most part in the Iowa game. ISU pretty clearly controlled things in the second half, cutting the lead to 71-70 with 5:55 to go. The Cyclones were quite clearly the team playing better pretty much for 15 straight minutes.

At which point Iowa went on a 11-4 run to go up by 8 with 2 minutes to go, when I thought the game was over. At that point, the trailing team needs the other team to crap all over itself to win the game. Which is what Iowa did. I say the same thing about the miracle Iowa comeback at Michigan State in 1993 after Chris Street's death.

Even though Monte is putting up great numbers this year he certainly doesn't look ready for the NBA. His March will probably determine what he does. Who knows about next year, even if Monte is gone I think their back court will be solid but they really need Malou eligible and for him to be a big contributor or they could be in trouble

Finally a Clone admits how important beating Iowa is. Responding to this:

"For those interested in such things, Bracketology has both Iowa and ISU as #4 seeds. Iowa trending up, Clones trending down.", Ronman

The brilliant Clone fan, Kinky F, has this to say, "This is great, now that game is going to bother Iowa fans more and more as the year goes on." And then he blathers on and on about a game from a month ago. o_O

Yes, Kinky F, who gives a $#!^ that Iowa State is trending down in the projected brackets. Why should Iowa State care if losing to Baylor makes winning the Big 12 look all that more difficult. Nothing freagin' matters now does it, Clone...cause you beat Iowa by one point.

Isn't that great.

He's only shooting 33% from 3 and 63% FT, and his PPG/APG are going to be inflated when you play in an uptempo offense like ISU does. In most cases the defense goes under the ball screen daring Monte to shoot, so I don't see how anyone projects him as an NBA guard but he seems to project himself as one.

Iowa is definitely trending in the right direction while ISU looks like they've been exposed early in the season. I think Iowa has already shown they're the better team as ISU needed a miracle to come from behind at Hilton. With Iowa having the advantage in next years recruiting and CM, Weiskamp, PM coming up and the departure of Hoiberg it looks like ISU's run is over and ISU will be competing with UNI for 2nd fiddle in basketball once again in the state.

Why does clown fan always have to have a limited and select time frame for their arguments?

UAB was sure that isu was the powerhouse that couldn't be stopped. Well at least according to clown fans they couldn't be stopped. Now history is repeating itself once again. isu is final four bound, just ask Brent with Blummers or Chrissy Williams. They will tell you.

isu doesn't like to play defense. I sure hope none of isu's opponents watched Georges tell the world this after losing to Baylor.
