Iowa as a #1 seed?

I don't think you are going to get an easy opponent in the 2nd round. Anything from that point on is going to be a struggle unless you have unbelievable talent on the roster.

I laugh at these threads. The tournament doesn't start today. It starts after 12 more conference games and a conference tournament.
OP knows that. If bracketology is saying 1 or 2 seed, then what is so wrong about talking about hypotheticals? Us as internet posters discussing games in 8 weeks does not interfere with the outcome in 3 days.

Also, If you don't have anything constructive to add to the conversation then don't post.

Way too early, but it's fun to talk about. Iowa is still probably a lower end 2 at this point (I guess?) as of today, with a chance to play their way up. A lot of hoops left, so lots can change in the next month and a half (but hopefully it doesn't).

As for the NCAA Tournament, yeah, outside of maybe a couple 16 seeds that steal a surprise bid with losing records, there are no bad teams in the tournament. You've got to be ready to play every single game. We've seen 2 seeds go down early enough, and even the occasional 1 seed fails to make the Sweet 16. There are no gimmes.

There are no easy games in the NCAA tournament for starters. Every team that makes the at-large field beat at least 2-3 (many times more) very very good teams... if we are to land between a 1 and 2 seed we would playing someone very capable of knocking us off in the 2nd round. What makes the 'dance' so fun is its all about match-ups.

Fortunately for Iowa, we are a match-up nightmare for most teams. We have a 6'9 forward who can play on the arc or inside, we can go 5 shooters, we can go big, we can go small, we can run, we can press... oh and this class has been to the dance two years in a row. We are experienced.

I feel bad for people who have such a pathetic life that they spend time on other fan boards just to troll, I just feel bad for people like you. Say what you want about Iowa but every single one of our programs that we as Iowans truly value are doing pretty darn well. Football ranked 9th, basketball ranked 9th, wrestling ranked 2nd, and baseball is preseason ranked in top 25. So you can continue to waste your time trolling because really there really is not much you can say

With only 1 Big 10 No. 1 seed likely this year...we would need win all but maybe no more than 3 of our remaining games AND at least play in the Championship game of the Big 10 tourney. So, yea, its possible. Likely? Different question ...but this team has the pieces...and as a team...I don't think we have seen their best ball yet.

Curious, what is the highest number of losses for a #1 seed?

Because it is fun and exciting to think about. Man I hope we continue to play well and find ourselves thinking about this in another month or so. No reason this team can't be in this discussion and thinking about a deep run in the tourney.

Oh, I can say plenty. #5 in football, current (for now) #1 in basketball, wrestling, who cares. And I have yet to see a baseball preseason with Iowaaah in the top 25. But nice try.

You are an Oklahoma fan? How did you make your way here? I can't think of one reason why I would visit/troll an Oklahoma board. Pathetic really.

Funny. You running out of shit to do red neck? Btw you would care about wrestling if you were worth a crap. Okie state owns that down in your neck of the red clay. What a hick.

With bracketology, seeding and location (to a point) can be relevant and fun to look at, but prospective matchups is a complete crapshoot. especially with lower seeds they can pretty much be interchanged with location for any or no reason. The actual bracket will not have those matchups but the seeding gives a good indication of where those teams are heading and projected #1 seed is as good as it gets

The 1/16 game would be really stressful. Somebody has to be the first
I'm thinking the first will be a team that has a fluke injury kind of like MSU ranked #1 then Valentine gets hurt and almost blows it against Oakland. Iowa would show up and pound the crap out of any #16 seed. No stress at all

Indiana also has yet to play a team in the top half of the B1G standings......

Yeah BUT....

IU beat Nebraska at Nebraska and Nebraska knocked off MSU at EL. IU crushed OSU and OSU beat UK. IU crushed Illinois and Illinois beat Purdue by double digits. Yesterday IU crushed Northwestern and earlier in the week Northwestern took Maryland to overtime AT Maryland.

I think the Big Ten is going to shake out a lot different than people thought at the beginning of the year. I also think it will be IU and Iowa fighting it out at the end assuming both teams stay healthy.

I wouldn't sit around waiting for IU to fade.

People are really stressing the Crean factor, which is fair, but they are far and away more talented than the bottom half of the conference. If they don't drop any there, you'd have to think they'll win at least a few games against the top half of the conference. They likely won't lose more than 4 games in conference.

That's quite a resume of transitive wins. Congratulations.
