this seems the same thing as saying Kirk is going to bring in an offensive coach. Does it really matter if the head guy prefers his own style?
Goes beyond style, IMO. You can play fast and still have a good defense - those teams are annual championship contenders.

Is he a head coach prospect as of right now? I can't see how that wouldnt be his next move. You're already a respected assistant of a perennially strong Big Ten team. Anything besides head coach would be lateral at best.
That being said, I'd be willing to give him a shot at that job...

History is pretty clear.
To make the Final 4 you need a Top 70 defense.
To win a national championship you need a Top 22 defense and a Top 39 offense.
Iowa was fine on offense (#4) but lacking on D (#80).

I only know one Coach Taylor.
He's currently coaching HS ball in Pennsylvania where his wife accepted a big time admissions job.
I assume Eldridge will just slide over a chair. Can’t see DeanO or Gatens or Horner coming on to be Director of Ops.
Fran should find a 5 star player, someone who at least has some interest in Iowa....then hire his dad as an assistant. It's our only shot.
What a great opportunity for certain members on this board to apply for the job and hopefully set McCaffery straight.
