Anyone know if there’s a good bar in the Charlotte airport? If not, I’m afraid I’m going to miss this one.
Are you taking a Greyhound? We will be there. Great place to tailgate and the scenery is very good. Too bad it's such a haul from CR/IC, close to 7.5 or so.
Looks like Week 11 against Purdue will be the only other chance we may end up with that. Hopefully, it ends up on BTN.....So we dodge the Mowan curse for another week? I wonder if KF has been sacrificing goats to avoid the 11:00 ESPN2 time slot.
Shoot, I'm going up to Portland for a lit conference Saturday afternoon and was hoping this would be a 9am start so I could see the game.

Go to D's tavern instead. Better Hawkeye vibe.If you are free, come catch the game with Hawk fans at Tom's Pizza in North Portland on Lombard.

Thanks for the recs guys, but I will be at the Portland Art Museum all day for Portland Wordstock. Tom's and D's are about 15 minute drives from my location, not something I'll easily be able to step out for a little bit for. Hoping somewhere close will have ESPN on.Totally disagree. Tom's Pizza has a larger Iowa crowd and has a better sense of friendliness. Also, it's just a better sports bar with the massive projection screens all around it. Not to mention Hawkeye gifts at halftime. The venue reminds me of watching a game at The Vine. D's was a mess the first game of the season. I don't want to bag on them but they simply were not prepared.
I went to Tom's once about 7-8 years ago, and no one seemed to give a crap about the game, no one was really talking to each other, the beer lineup was below average and the pizza was OK. That's quite a change from the Seattle game watch, where people are all high fiving each other and chatting with strangers, and the band is playing. The last time I went to D's, they had a big potluck where a bunch of Iowa people brought midwest food and set up a buffet. The bartender and owner were a lot friendlier too. Given, it's been 2 or so years since I've gone, so it may have changed.Totally disagree. Tom's Pizza has a larger Iowa crowd and has a better sense of friendliness.
