Well, is it not better that we start late since a morning game would be an even shorter turnaround? Plus we just played a late night game so we got some practice at a game totally under the lights. Hawks 35 Bruins 13.I’m just here to say I absolutely hate … HATE … late starts out west. That 2010 trip to Arizona still give me chills from time to time.
I was at that game.. amazing how many Hawks fans trekked their way into their stadium that night.I’m just here to say I absolutely hate … HATE … late starts out west. That 2010 trip to Arizona still give me chills from time to time.
Was at that game with my Navy son. He flew from San Diego and I flew from CR. Great reuinion but bad bad game.I’m just here to say I absolutely hate … HATE … late starts out west. That 2010 trip to Arizona still give me chills from time to time.
if we lose it will be a blowout by at least 2 TDsIowa 13
UCLA 21
If it were me, I would leave Tuesday AM & have an afternoon practice. Get them adjusted & to hell with classes they can attend online.Statistically, traveling more than 2 time zones for conference games have not been good for B1G teams. Hoping this isn't a trap game.
Not a friggin chance. Iowa plays physical Iowa ball against this west coast patsy.Iowa 13
UCLA 21
If KF goes full stupid and starts McNamara on Friday night, you can lead the BOO brigade. That game in Lincoln was a shocker. I didn't think UCLA would win a conference game all year and they've got 2 straight road wins in rather tough places to play.
I'll be there. Going to be visiting my son in the Santa Barbara area and plan on having a great weekend. I'm not as confident about this game as I had been earlier in the season (UCLA playing better than expected, Iowa looking like garbage last 2 road games), but I sure am glad that we finally have the right QB in place.
Iowa 31-14
Because? I’ll be there with a gaggle of Hawk fans.My wife's parents live 10 minutes from the Rose Bowl and you couldn't pay me to go to this game
Man, if I was 10 minutes away I would be there. Practically three hours from where I am in NE Iowa now.My wife's parents live 10 minutes from the Rose Bowl and you couldn't pay me to go to this game
It's confusing...... do you live in your inlaws basement and even for cash you wouldn't for some unknown reason travel the 10 minutes to the game or you live elsewhere but for some unknown reason wouldn't consider combining an in law visit with a Hawkeye game. We'll be on the edge of our seats waiting to hear.My wife's parents live 10 minutes from the Rose Bowl and you couldn't pay me to go to this game
Friday night, late start, two hour time zone change. It all adds up to a Hawkeye letdown.I’m just here to say I absolutely hate … HATE … late starts out west. That 2010 trip to Arizona still give me chills from time to time.
Explain. My wife's parents live 10 minutes from the Rose Bowl and you couldn't pay me to go to this game
Just stop.If KF goes full stupid and starts McNamara on Friday night, you can lead the BOO brigade.
We have the number one rushing team in the big. They haven't seen the likes of us. They do have some big boys on their lines. We'll see if they are up to the task.going to be a bit tougher with the travel and UCLA's rushing defense is much more solid than Wisky's. On the flip side, UCLAs passing defense is more than suspect coming in at 115th in the country, hopefully the hawks can open it up a bit.
You dislike your in-laws that much? Stay at the house with some nice convos? My wife's parents live 10 minutes from the Rose Bowl and you couldn't pay me to go to this game
I wouldn't be the Lone Ranger, that's for sure. People taking that kind of trip to see that sh*t wouldn't be happy. If KF goes full stupid and starts McNamara on Friday night, you can lead the BOO brigade.
This is just dumb. I'm as big of a KF critic as anyone, but not supporting the team as some kind of individual protest, and giving up on a unique opportunity to see Iowa on the road in a legendary stadium with possibly a majority of the stadium being Hawk fans, especially one that would be easier for you than most, is asinine. You're a Hawkeye fan; act like it.Kirk is coach. Our season is over.
Good Lord.Kirk is coach. Our season is over.
Hawk Rule, I hope you are right. I was at that 2010 game visiting my Navy son. It was swealtering and so dissapointing to see how that game unfolded. Iowa has not played well out west and it would be great to see us be really establish the run so SULLIVAN can use his passes to bring home a W.Trying to compare this game against UCLA to the game in 2010 against Arizona is a waste of time.
First, the game in 2010 featured 2 top 25 programs. UCLA is 3-5 and has looked average, at it's best, and downright putrid at it's worst.
Second, the game against Arizona saw nearly 60,000 fans, in a "Red Out". At the time, it was the most fans in that stadium to ever see an Arizona football game. I don't know that it's ever been surpassed. This game MIGHT see 10,000 Bruins fans, maybe.
Third, the game was in September, in Arizona, where the temp at kickoff was still 97 degrees. This game will have a kickoff temp of around 74 degrees.
Finally, that 2010 game started at 8:30pm PT (10:30pm CT) because of the heat. This one will start at 6:00pm PT (8:00pm CT).
It'll be close in the first half....probably something like 14-10 at the break. But as per usual lately, we'll come out and dominate the 3rd quarter and win going away......something in the neighborhood of 38-16.
I also think the "travel" factor is being overplayed. UCLA was just in Lincoln on Saturday afternoon so if anything they have less "rest" time than Iowa by the time they actually got home.Trying to compare this game against UCLA to the game in 2010 against Arizona is a waste of time.
