Iowa at UCLA Hawks -6 o/u 44.5 as of 7:00 PM Wed. According to ESPN

iowa favored by 6.5 in a night game on the west coast against a team which is much better than its record and is actually a terrible matchup for iowa. it would seem that bettors don't know what they are doing.
i'll go on record that this is a game we should not bitch massively about if we lose. just hope this loss isn't used as a reason to bring back cade going forward.
I have a 2X bet on Iowa Over 8 regular season wins, and a small one on O8.5. I’m very confident in at least a push on the O8, and if the O8.5 misses, oh well.

I’m strongly considering a bet on an alternate line of UCLA -2.5, which would be somewhere in the +250-ish range. Nothing crazy, just cover what I bet on O8.5 or find the amount that gives equal profit.

We’re not losing to Maryland or Nebraska.

My wife's parents live 10 minutes from the Rose Bowl and you couldn't pay me to go to this game

Never Imagined Iowa being a 6.5 favorite traveling to the west coast. Let alone a team that just spanked Nebraska.
Totally agree, especially with the history of games the Hawks have played west of the Rockies. I actually thought UCLA might be favored base on who they have played, scores, etc.

Four of the five games UCLA has lost are to teams #16 or higher. Then a loss to Minnesota. They've played an extremely tough schedule, and they are better than what you'd expect from a 3-5 team. It's going to be a battle out in Pasadena on Friday.
UCLA has some big lineman. We will need to complete some pass so our running game does the job. Hoping Sullivan's mobility helps ahd hes on target. Going to be interesting to say the least. Go Hawks.

This is just dumb. I'm as big of a KF critic as anyone, but not supporting the team as some kind of individual protest, and giving up on a unique opportunity to see Iowa on the road in a legendary stadium with possibly a majority of the stadium being Hawk fans, especially one that would be easier for you than most, is asinine. You're a Hawkeye fan; act like it.

I haven't felt great about his game since I saw it on the schedule, but we have a few things working in our favor:

1. Coming off our best performance of the year.
2. The D has awakened and has played lights out the last two weeks. Defense travels well.
3. We're running it great, and Sullivan obviously adds a lot of punch to the run game and the O in general. A good run game travels well.

I think the Hawks have a renewed sense of hunger and confidence and that they're seeing that a 9-3 season plus a possible 10-win season with a bowl win puts them in pretty elite company where Iowa football history is concerned. As long as they don't lose the turnover battle, I think the Hawks get it done in the Rose Bowl for the first time in about 6 decades.

Vegas has a lot of California betters out there. UCLA just beat two Big Ten teams in a row. Good reason for the money going on them early. Hope it drops another half a point and I’m gonna pounce on Iowa -5, I may anyway.

I’m just here to say I absolutely hate … HATE … late starts out west. That 2010 trip to Arizona still give me chills from time to time.

Or the 2004 trip to ASU! I hope the team is already in Los Angeles or will arrive today. Anyone who has ever flown two time zones away knows how real jet lag can be. The coast-to-coast B1G games are wild to think about.

We haven't performed well out West and seem unprepared most of the time. Hope this time is different and we hang 40+ on them.

I've heard it's actually better to travel as close to the game as you can. That way your body doesn't have time to get hit.

Headed to So Cal tomorrow. Hoping for a running game that I saw last weekend in Iowa City! Looking forward to it. Not really dreading anything about it as we are not in the running for a playoff spot. Play your game boys and maul the hell out of them!!

Edit.....btw I don't feel as though the time change will impair my ability to drink. Just a feeling I have.

What was the opening line? Isn’t it back down to about where it started?

Remember when a hundred zillion came in on Iowa against OSU, and the line dropped like seven points?
Opened at -6.5 and now -5.5. It has been between -6 and -6.5 until recently. I would think it will drop more. Go Hawks

Trying to compare this game against UCLA to the game in 2010 against Arizona is a waste of time.

First, the game in 2010 featured 2 top 25 programs. UCLA is 3-5 and has looked average, at it's best, and downright putrid at it's worst.

Second, the game against Arizona saw nearly 60,000 fans, in a "Red Out". At the time, it was the most fans in that stadium to ever see an Arizona football game. I don't know that it's ever been surpassed. This game MIGHT see 10,000 Bruins fans, maybe.

Third, the game was in September, in Arizona, where the temp at kickoff was still 97 degrees. This game will have a kickoff temp of around 74 degrees.

Finally, that 2010 game started at 8:30pm PT (10:30pm CT) because of the heat. This one will start at 6:00pm PT (8:00pm CT).

It'll be close in the first half....probably something like 14-10 at the break. But as per usual lately, we'll come out and dominate the 3rd quarter and win going away......something in the neighborhood of 38-16.
Probably in mid to low 50's once the sun goes down. It gets chilly in Pasadena. If you're going to the game, don't go in shorts & tee shirts.

You're welcome.

It jumped up to 6.5 pretty quickly, but it didn’t open there. It has obviously fallen back down.

I suppose it could depend on where you saw it, but Sunday morning it was -5.5. I just checked the screen shot of all the lines my degenerate friend sent me Sunday morning. That was through Cinca Sports.

I usually see the first lines on Draft Kings, then after that I go by ESPN
