Iowa at Wisconsin will be an 11 AM game

Sounds like the 2:30 ABC/ESPN2 game will either feature Ohio St for the 3rd week in a row, MN @ NW or IL @ Neb. I was hoping it would be the Hawks, but now I hope that it is MN @ NW; those teams have earned it with their schedules and performances (despite MN's lackluster game on Sat). I just hope now that we're at least a non-BTN game; otherwise I may have to stream it.

IL at Nebby??? LOL what has either of those teams done to warrant consideration for an afternoon game, let alone being shown on anything but BTN alternate?

I got this bad feeling....

Nebraska is at Illinois (Champaign) that weekend. It will kick at 2:30 but is airing on BTN

icparker you give legit hawk fans on this board a bad name. You're either young or stupid or both. What have the hawks done to warrant any time slot on TV? I like the low key 11am spot on the road. IMO, it bodes well for the underdog on the road. Get a W and guess what, hawks will get some much deserved love.

Terrible for tailgating....guess they're rewarding the mediocre play of Ohio State by putting them at 2:30 to probably squeak by another mediocre opponent

It works in our favor being on the road I think.....even though I hate 11 am games.

Iowa has beaten everyone put in front of them, what else can they do?
Correct and not one of those wins deems the hawks worthy of anything other than being 3-0, which is great. People get paid good money to place games in time slots based on how many viewers they can attract.

It could be argued it's the biggest game vs the Badguys since 2010, as far as the Hawks are concerned. Ferentz 3.0 could be further established with the win.

I would bet good money that IA v. WI will attract more viewers than NE vs. ILL. We'll see if these people are earning their good money.

I would hope so being that NEB at ILL will air on BTN and IOWA at WIS will likely air on ABC or ESPN

I stated that awkwardly. I meant to say that the Iowa v. Wisconsin game would get more viewers than a Nebraska v. Illinois game in the 2:30 slot.
I was responding to a poster who said that high paid programmers are paid good money to figure out which game would draw more viewers.

I am that poster, and the point is you are wrong no matter what you thought, the 230 time slot on ABC will get the game that will draw the most viewers, and that game is not hawks/badgers.

Absolutely correct. The network decision makers are PERFECT and ALWAYS pick the right game.

So I'm assuming ESPN picked Ohio State for 2:30 first and the Iowa for 11 AM, and then BTN got the rest of the games?

Fortunately for me we can easily find the rating of all the games. I am not saying it's the best game that's picked simply that the 230 ABC game will be the one that will get the most number of eyes. The people that make these decisions get paid to do so and if the Iowa game is the deemed worthy it would be in that slot. There is no conspiracy keeping the hawks down.

Ok yeah I'm a little slow - I misread your first post.

My first reaction was...crap. Then I realized, like some of the above posters, this helps the road team it seems.

This is fantastic. I'm not a legit Hawk fan? Why? Because I think it's laughable that anyone in their right mind would put Nebby/Illinois in the 2:30 time slot? Gee, I must be a real idiot and a fair weather fan huh.

Have you seen the lineup of games that day? Nebby at Illinois is the worst game in the conference other than PSU hosting Army. Minnesota/NW will be on the same time as the Iowa/Wiscy game while Nebby and Illinois get the afternoon slot.

What has Iowa done? How about go 3-0 with wins over two power 5 teams. By that weekend you'll have, in all likelihood, a 4-0 Iowa team playing in a rivalry game against a 3-1 Wiscy team. Both will likely be either ranked or receiving votes. I must be pretty young or stupid or both to think that might warrant an afternoon slot over a sleepy game in Champaign (and WTF does being young have to do with anything??).

You lack perspective as a youngster.

You know this as a fact? How you not a network V.P.?

At least we can confirm my issue is youth. Assuming you're demeaning tone is any indication, we can rule that out for you. What's left? Please enlighten me on how many years of perspective would change any of the facts about that weekend...

Last year's game with Wisconsin was essentially a semifinal for the Big Ten West. If we had won, all we needed to do was not blow the game against Nebraska and we would've been the ones getting our arse kicked by Ohio State in the BTCG.

THIS. This game is HUGE. Win it, and we are in the drivers seat after beating a pre-season favorite to win the West. We're ranked and, believe me, attention will follow.

All we have to do is... Beat.... Wisconsin.

How tough can that be?

You do realize that most of that has to do with the fact that almost every TV set in the country gets ABC, and only a fraction of them (in comparison) get the ESPN networks or BTN, right?

It has a lot more to do with the broadcast station than the participating teams as to how the ratings work. The individual ratings for each game in the 2:30 window on ABC do not get released. Rather, they give a national average of ratings during that time, which factors in multiple games and not just the B1G one.
