Iowa at Wisconsin will be an 11 AM game

IL at Nebby??? LOL what has either of those teams done to warrant consideration for an afternoon game, let alone being shown on anything but BTN alternate?

Take it easy, Chief. I was only listing the 3 games that were left as possibilities for the 2:30 ABC slot. MSU-PU had already been designated an 11 AM kickoff, and Mich-MD is a night game. That left those three games I listed as possibilities (making safe assumption it would not be Army-PSU), including Neb-Ill. But, I hope you feel better after taking an internet shot at me.

THIS. This game is HUGE. Win it, and we are in the drivers seat after beating a pre-season favorite to win the West. We're ranked and, believe me, attention will follow.

All we have to do is... Beat.... Wisconsin.

How tough can that be?
We better be healthy, that's for sure.

Of course, we still got Northwestern (who is the highest currently-ranked team on our schedule) in Evanston, Minnesota at home and they'll probably be amped for that game much like ISU gets when they play us, and then Nebraska in Lincoln. Those are just the perceived toughest teams on our schedule, including Wisconsin.

So how important is this Wisconsin game?....I guess it depends on how important we all think the remaining 7 games are after that.

It's shaping up to be a lot like the 2009 game at Penn State. Win it, and the potential is there to open the year on a HUGE run (9-0 or better). Lose it and you're behind the 8-ball in the West before the conference race really even starts. Gigantic swing game.

You do realize that most of that has to do with the fact that almost every TV set in the country gets ABC, and only a fraction of them (in comparison) get the ESPN networks or BTN, right?

It has a lot more to do with the broadcast station than the participating teams as to how the ratings work. The individual ratings for each game in the 2:30 window on ABC do not get released. Rather, they give a national average of ratings during that time, which factors in multiple games and not just the B1G one.

Easy on the sarcasm. Individual ratings do get released. That aside, the point is, all game times are selected and scheduled taking multiple factors into consideration, none of which are meant to give the hawks a poor start time, as some on this thread have insinuated.

No, they don't. I follow them weekly. They are announced as the "ABC regional window", featuring game X in Y percent of national markets. Ratings points and viewership are done on a national scale. It's not even possible to do that for a game that isn't available to 100% of the country.

Agree to disagree?

If you are an Iowa fan and are worried about exposure, wouldn't you rather have the 11am time slot? 2:30 means that 90% of casual fans are watching bama/uga. I'd take my chances going head to head with Purdue/msu or Wvu / ou...

Wisconsin just scored on Nebraska again.

Fortunately, UN might have a chance to beat them this year. Or at least keep then under 50 points. We shall see.

Yeah I don't think I want to go into a Camp Randall Crowd at 7pm when the whole stadium is jacked up. 11am seems like more of a benefit to Iowa. I know the crowd and atmosphere doesn't win games but it is easy for players to play lights out if they are pumped up by the energy of the crowd. Imagine how much more the Hawkeyes benefited on saturday night than Pitt. Home team thrives on a night game.

Now if it was 2:30 that might be more desirable. But the truth is Ohio State is going to get more ratings even if it is a bad matchup/not as important as Iowa Wisconsin. People all over the country want to see Ohio State lose. They are going to watch and root against them, especially with that poor game against NIU. It's the same way everyone rooted against Florida State last year. One more reason to hate Ohio State

Pretty sure we'll get Dave Pasch, Brian Griese and Tom Lugenbill as the broadcast team.
Brian is worlds better than his old man, who was brutal as a color commentator.
