Iowa City native, and Pearl Harbor survivor Ray Reiland has passed away.

Every few years the ICPC would run a story about Reiland, and his experiences during WW2, and that day, specifically. Reiland died 10 days short of his 100th birthday. He was stationed on the cruiser USS Raleigh when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. The Raleigh was hit by one torpedo, but suffered no casualties that day.
