Actually, they were waving at the hawk flying above the large scoreboard on the north-end of Camp Randall.
Nope. Also, that makes zero sense why they would all be waving all around the stadium in unison, right when the 1st quarter is done. I was actually sitting in an Iowa section while people were waving and not one person was saying anything about seeing a hawk.
I personally thought it was really embarrassing but none of the Wisconsin fans seemed to care, so I guess that's good. There were lots of people asking "why are they waving" and then lots of people explaining the new tradition. It just felt very cringey to me.
No way.
That's embarrassing.
ZERO heartfelt whatsoever.
MSU participated and led it. Not sure why people are mad or disappointed that people are waving to sick kids at an away game similar to what they do at a home game. I’d be more mad and disappointed in the team and coaches. It happened in the Iowa section (north end of the west side) at Northwestern, as I was there. It appeared on TV that it happened at Michigan State, although I thought their fans were somehow involved.

Good Lord. So now there's something inappropriate about waving to sick children because the fans are too far away? And to the OP.....did this bother you?
Great tradition, but not on the road. Do Wisconsin fans start jumping wildly after the 3rd quarter of road games?
Except it was done at MSU by MSU as well. Blows your it’s a Kinnick thing out of the water. And how is that directing the focus to themselves? More of, we’re away from Kinnick where we can’t see the hospital but we’re still thinking about you. If the kids were watching the game, a good chance some were, they would have seen it and it may have brightened their day a little to know that people are thinking about them.Shameful, actually.
Taking something like that and directing the focus to themselves.
Jesus Christ.
They weren't waving to sick children!
It's a KINNICK thing!
Because they see the fans wave!
Unless those kids have some very high powered binoculars, that was all for attention.
MSU Band?Lame. Just, lame.
MSU (band?) did it ONCE to show respect since we don't play them at Kinnick.
So no, Kinnick thing not blown out of the water.
I watched the game and didn't see shit on tv, so those kids didn't either.
Would you wave at home from your living room? You know, because you're thinking of them and all? Probably not.
It's attention.
