Another poster brought up the lack of Iowa players drafted by the Bears, so I looked it up and it has been forever since the Bears drafted a player from Iowa....have to go all the way back to 1983 and the selection of Mark Bortz since the Bears made a pick from Iowa that actually played a game with the team.
Here is the breakdown of Iowa Hawkeye Players Drafted by Midwest Teams in the Kirk Ferentz era:
Packers: A. Kampman, A. Hodge, B. Bulaga, M. Daniels, M. Hyde
Vikings: C. Greenway, C. Ballard, J. Johnson
Chiefs: T. Moeaki, R. Stanzi
Colts: D. Clark, B. Sanders, P. Angerer
Lions: A. Spievey, R. Reiff
Hawks should have at least 5 guys drafted this year: J. Jackson, J. Daniels, J. Jewell, A. Wadley & S. Welsh.
My best guess is that J. Jackson and J. Daniels go in the 1st round, Josey in the 4th, Akrum in the 5th and Welsh in the 6th. Also an outside shot for Ben Niemann to get drafted in the 7th.
Would be nice to see at least a couple of these guys drafted by some Midwest teams - come on Bears take Josey in the 4th round!!
