Iowa has more Iowans

I do care, OP, and I take pride in knowing the "IOWA" on the jersey means so much more in Iowa City than it does in Ames, no matter what the sport. With over half (12) of Saturday's Hawkeye starters from Iowa and only four starting for ISU, it gives Iowa the edge in what Hayden always called that "extra heartbeat" Iowa kids have when they play for their home school.

No program can rely on in-state players only, but the more the better as far as I'm concerned. But then I'm a native Iowan.

As a program that does not have a national recruiting footprint and a state that produces limited fbs talent, sure Iowa should lock up local talent that fits needs -- but should definitely hunt constantly outside of Iowa. The "outside" recruits become through and through Hawkeyes anyway. Is AJ Epenesa (or his dad for that matter) any less "Iowan" than local talent on the roster?

Not that funding is an issue, but for every kid from Iowa that on scholarship.....they state kicks in money to give them in state tuition.

For that, it is actually cheaper to give kid from Iowa a scholarship than a kid from another state.

That being said, the Iowa staff not only does a great job in recruiting the state, but also developing the talent.

Iowa St obviously hates Iowa kids.

Just curious. What is the breakout for scholarship players?

I think as long as Campbell remains in Ames you will see him recruiting fewer Iowa kids ... He is going for speed ... And bottom line, Iowa high school kids aren't known for speed when it comes to the receiver or dback positions.

I don't care where Iowa gets its kids ... as long as they are good on and off the field.

What this really shows is that Iowa pretty much gets their pick of Iowa HS players who are talented enough for D1.

Which is a main reason why Iowa has really nothing to gain in winning this lose-lose game.

But I’m not about to start this debate up again.

ISU has 120 scholarships? Holy crap! They suck even worse managing two eight-win season since 2000 with 35 more scholarships than Iowa. Heck, Iowa managed ten seasons with 8+ wins in that time with only 85 scholarships.

Yes. Give me the list of Iowa HS players that had offers to Iowa but chose ISU and are on the 2018 roster. There are a few but not many.
Oh it's not just ISU on this list......

And also not just about the 2018 roster, which you didn't allude to in your previous post. o_O

That was an entire roster break down from the Media Guide.

and yet you will still use the "super bowl" excuse when you lose on Saturday. Seems pretty clear which side this game is more important to but you just cant say it out loud.

You automatically lose that argument when 4 minutes equals 60 minutes.

Pretty tough for any cyclone fan to win an integrity argument right now.
