Here's the release from Iowa. BTN just announced their non-con TV coverage this morning. Going to end up with a lot of non-con games early on for on-line viewing only.

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa, in conjunction with the Big Ten Network, announced Wednesday start times and television information for three nonconference homes games for the upcoming 2016-17 season.

Hawkeye home games against Seton Hall (Nov. 17), North Dakota (Dec. 20), and Delaware State (Dec. 22) will be televised nationally on BTN. All three contests will be played on Mediacom Court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena at 8 p.m. (CT). The game against Seton Hall is part of the second annual Gavitt Games.

Iowa won 13 of its 15 games inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena and ranked 19th in the country in average attendance a year ago. Fans can request season tickets for the upcoming basketball season at the UI Athletics Ticket Office at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, over the phone at 1-800-IA-HAWKS, or online at hawkeyesports.com/tickets.

The remainder of Iowa’s schedule and start times will be released later this summer. Listed below is Iowa’s most up-to-date schedule with dates, times, and television information.

That's a brutal non conf slate Seton Hall returns 4 double digit scorers, Virginia is a load along with Providence or Memphis, at Notre Dame and instate games against Iowa State and UNI. Going 4-3 in those games will be a minor miracle.

Gee, remember the good old days when so many posters complained about the softness of Iowa's non-conference schedule? This appears to me to be a pretty well balanced schedule, especially considering the youth of our squad.

I'd much rather have a tough non-conference schedule where the players take a few lumps and learn how to be better. Think MSU - typically have 4-5 losses or so by the time conference play rolls around, but they are tough as nails after that. Plus, it will show in the RPI/SOS/KenPom stuff and help Iowa, as long as they are good enough to get some wins.

I'm not sure I'm expecting NCAA tourney this year though. Have to think about it some more and see how the team looks early on... but this is probably a rebuilding year.

Does anyone know if they are on CBS SN, does that mean that they are also on local CBS?

No, CBS Sports Network is it's own channel. We played on that channel a few years ago in the Battle 4 Atlantis where we beat Xavier and lost to Villanova in the championship IIRC. (It may have also been the one where we lost to Wichita St. in the championship. I forget)

Edit: The Battle 4 Atlantis in 2013 wasn't on CBS Sports Network, but the Cancun Challenge in 2012 was. Given the quality of the games in this tournament, I'm a bit surprised it's not on a more major network.

4-3 would be a minor miracle especially considering Hawks will play 6 games vs said teams

It's a good non-conference. With all of our newbies, having most of our tough games not on the road is a good thing. Neutral courts are not like playing in Assembly Hall. That will certainly help our growth.

Considering our pre-B1G, these guys will not be rookies come the start of the conference schedule. There will have been plenty of battles played by then. Still, I would like our heavy load to be in the middle of conference play. We will see soon enough...

Virginia and providence will be way down from last year. Notre Dame on the road is the real ball buster.

This is not a "brutal" non-conference slate. This is maybe slightly above average in comparison to the rest of high major teams. I think it's a great mix of a couple borderline top 25 teams and some cupcakes for this young team.

Correct, I believe they play Battle of Atlantis on AXSTv or what was HDNet. Cully Payne rocking the PG duties!!

AXS and more importantly NBC Sports Network. Btw, what does Cully Payne have to do with Battle 4 Atlantis?

I can guarantee you Fran, his coaches and the players don't think this ^^^^. After watching PTL, I don't think this either. Yea, they may get sideways in a few games not only early on but during the B1G season but there is some real talent on this team, the likes I've not seen on an Iowa team in some time. It's just different...

Seriously....start with Tyler Cook. My goodness he is a damn good talent....he just is. Did you see him play in PTL compared to other players in years past? My O my...and his 3 shot came out of no where compared to his HS vids....He is GOOD. Pemsl is pretty darn good too. He just wins....another championship for him. He is doing something right on a BB court.

Throw in an all B1G player like Peter Jok who is arguably and could be the best shooter/player in the B1G. Why not Pete?

But I was just really impressed with the rest of the players in PTL. The Baer trap is another very good BB player but they all are very good BB talents and if Jones can come back like I hope he can because I saw him standing next to Moss and CWilliams in PTL. He physically is big, cut and looks ready to go...I hope he plays BB as good as he looks.

We'll see but I am just really excited about this team......it's different but they all can play the game.

I think that was actually Gesell's first year and Payne was gone... IIRC, McCabe had a pretty nice tournament.

That's my mistake. I think it was the Cancun Challenge where Payne was the PG. I remember watching on a laptop stream while at work.

I agree with you. I've been pouring over the Big Ten and there just aren't that many teams with a ton more experience than us. That's, counting in years at Iowa...ignoring red shirt seasons. Now, playing time from last year is a different matter but just how were the young guys going to get time with four seniors and Jok starting?

I'm struggling to keep the optimism low for now, but that fifth spot in the league, or a tie for it, keeps screaming at me as not entirely unlikely. It depends much on Christian Williams at point and I've been sky high on him since he committed.

Gol' darn if I'm right...if I'm right...I can hardly believe what is coming in the next few years. I love the across the board athleticism of this team. And I know what having big guards is going to do for our motion offense.

Good stuff Dan....I am struggling to keep the optimism low too and yes, it depends on C Williams in my view as well? I really love how this talent can get to the rim and find ways to score or will be fouled and be at the line shooting FTs. When I say the talent is different, here is one way. A big way imo and no one can get to the rim and rattle it like Tyler can..... the talent is just peculiar to what I've been used to with Iowa. Get excited.
