Where is a good place to stay walking distance to the game. Also, wanted to watch the vikings play sunday with my son. What should i expect to pay for 2 decent tickets(not nose bleed but not rock star) . Any other recommendations for either game?

There will be a new Embassy Suites open by then. The Marriott is within walking distance as are the Residence Inn, Renaissance, and A Loft. I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch. The Embassy Suites and Marriott are in the center of downtown while all the others are just blocks from the Stone Arch bridge that goes across to campus. They are all close to US Bank Stadium also.

Vikings tickets are going to be spendy as this will be the first year of the new stadium. A quick check on the ticket exchange website has tickets starting around a hundred bucks a piece. Would be worth it though as the stadium is really nice.

You cannot really go wrong if you stay downtown, but staying at The Commons Hotel in the middle of campus, within view of TCF Bank Stadium would be my suggestion. I do not think any of the new hotels by the Vikings stadium will be open for a while, but the Aloft Hotel is right there, and the Depot Hotels are close. The Westin, W, Marriott, Radisson, Hyatt are all good options. A very large Embassy Suites above the Lyons pub in the Plymouth Building on Hennepin might be open by gameday. A nice Hampton in is also close to opening on Hennepin near the light rail line.

As for the Commons Hotel, this former Radisson built in the 80s while old Memorial Stadium was still standing next door, is a very large, well maintained hotel and the train platform is right outside the lobby so you are a 3 minute train ride to the Vikings Stadium, and a six minute ride away from the warehouse district and Target Field Station.

The Alumni Center ,where they have a full bar set up and food service is right next door, and even the Applebees in the hotel does not suck too much. You can also walk to Sallys, the Big Ten, Stub and Herbs, Bar Luchedor, or Buffalo Wild Wings for some pregame fun. The Campus Mall, with the Northrop Auditorium and Student Union at either end is 1.5 blocks away. There are also a slew of Asian restaurants and some other food to be found on the block

You can also visit the river flats below the student union, which is the best tailgating spot on campus for $10, or walk over the bridge to the West Bank campus as well, or all the way to the Vikings Stadium.
