The Hawkeyes have barely scratched the surface of their offensive potential. The O-line, so maligned by many of us preseason, has been solid. But there are so many other options this offense can add as the season goes along.
The TEs have been good as blockers, but have been all but invisible as receivers. When Duzey and Co. recover from various injuries, that will add a whole new dimension.
Jonathan Parker and freshman Jerminic Smith are ready to run those deep fly patterns with the speed to help showcase CJ's lethal arm. Add Tevaun Smith and Duzey along with VandeBerg and you have a passing offense that can score from anywhere on the field at any time. We haven't seen it yet, but look out when we do.
The RBs have looked solid, but with more reps they'll continue to develop and hit those cutback lanes even more effectively.
And I hope KF doesn't get so hung up on his fake field goals that he neglects other trick play opportunities. The flea flicker didn't work Saturday because it was executed too quickly. The RB didn't make a good enough running fake to draw the defense in, so that play should be brought back along with a few others.
I hope to see some of our speed receivers goin' deep Saturday night and our offense continue to evolve. With a legit QB, almost anything is possible. What a great feeling.
And congrats to CJB on his offensive POW recognition. He deserves it after waiting patiently for two years to finally get his shot.
