Iowa offers Des Moines 8th grader

Watched some of his highlight video. He makes it look easy against 5’6” 8th graders that he’s a couple years older than. I’d like to see video of him against high school sophomores.

Isn't he one of the top 8th graders in the nation?
I saw something about him on Twitter last week. The organizations that actually rank 8th graders (Rivals, 247, and others wait until high school) have him as a top 10 player in the country. I believe a couple have him as high as #4. Obviously that will most likely change by the time he’s a senior but who knows.

I remember years ago Bob Knight offered an 8th grader, (think his name was Damon?), and the kid did go to Indiana. Hope this works out the same for us.

He is good. Plays for former Cyclone John Lamb at Beyond Ball. Someone else said it but he has major talent but I want to see him against someone other than 8th grade players.

How old is he truly?

I think Coach Knight recruited another 8th grader whose first name was Steve or Stevie. Something like that.

I had a kid who was 6'3 220 on my 8th grade team this year. All muscle, very little baby fat. It is happening more than you would think. Unfortunately for my kid, he only wanted to play street ball which led him to sit next to me with foul trouble.

According to my daughter who is friends with him, he is 2 days younger than her. They just graduated 8th grade together. That would make him 14. He’s a really good kid. Kind of funny but ever since the Register article and offer he gets inundated daily with younger kids at the school wanting selfies and autographs of their yearbook. He seems to be enjoying it.

This got me to thinking about the recruiting of the top bball players ... Kids like this one ... kids like Foster ... If they develop into their future "star" ranking ... As a coach ... do I really dedicate a ton of time on a kid who could be a one and done (not placing Foster or this kid in that category) ... Overall, though ... all of the time spent recruiting 4-5 star kids ... And now offering an 8th grader ... So now as a coach you're going to spend the next 5 years trying to entice a kid to come play for you ...

Transfer portal ... offering 8th graders ... I'm glad I am not a college recruiter ... The recruiting game is so different now ... It's a spectacle ... Commit ... Un-commit ... 'please respect my decision ... I'm re-opening my recruitment ...' ... No way would I want to be a recruiter ...
