Reverse the curse
I think it says a lot about my pessimism when I see "It's Anybody's Title?...Jarrod Uthoff and the Hawkeyes Disagree" and initially read it to mean the opposite of what it is going for.
The 2nd cover reverses the curse of the 1st cover and will propel Iowa to at least the Final Four. It's science.
We're already slumping and cursed...this can only help with the reverse effect. We NEED something and it might as well be an SI Cover. Besides, two SI covers is awesome and no choking or sucking by us can take that away.
Good point, what's the worst that could happen at this juncture? Nearly everyone already expects a first round loss.
I love built in excuses...Hawks have a win-win here.

This SI cover superstition goes right along with the billy goat curse of the Cubs. Magazine covers and billy goats have nothing to do with how a team plays a game. If people jest about such matters, that's cool, but when people act like this stuff really determines the future, well...
Why SI would put Iowa on the cover for the NCAA's is a good question. And perhaps a better one is why can't folks at SI write plain, understandable English? I've heard they get paid good money to do exactly that. Maybe a second Iowa cover has cursed the SI writer's ability to communicate.

That's a really good question. From what I can tell, SI only released four regional covers - three men's teams & one women's team. So out of 68 teams they tagged Iowa as one of the three to represent the tournament.
Was the uptick in Hy-Vee sales they witnessed in November & January enough to warrant a special Iowa cover?

It's good/free publicity anyway. As a recruit it can't hurt seeing a school you are considering on the cover of SI.

It's NEVER been called a curse. But for EVER, there has been an SI Jinx.
