This is my shout out to Iowa high school football coaches. To their credit, this is no longer true like the Hayden Fry quote once claimed. Look at not only how many impact players Iowa starts/uses but then UNI uses as well. Terribly impressive per population of athletes. I don't remember ISU's use, but it's crazy good instruction and development by our educators.

It says a lot about how much people loved Hayden for him to get away with saying that... and obviously the era was a little different.

But it is clear the disadvantage Iowa has recruiting isn’t as big as what it used to be.

It’s really damn frustrating we can’t keep the basketball prospects that keep getting pumped out of the state.

So by watching UNI get blown off the field by Iowa, you say that Iowa doesn't have a disadvantage in recruiting? I can't help you if that's the attitude. Who on that UNI team is an NFL player? Or even a really good Big 10 player? While Iowa still cared about the outcome, it was the varsity against the JV.

Love the numerous good Hawks on this year's team, but Iowa would simply not ever win at any level in the Big 10 recruiting just Iowa kids.

Have to agree with that. I love our Iowa boys, and they can be the heart and soul of the team, but we aren't winning any conference titles with an all Iowa squad. Doesn't mean we can't be proud of those boys who rise up and make a difference, just saying it's a bit competitive world out there.

This is it. Having a lot of Iowa kids on the team helps, as they have closer affinity to the program and will help keep things focused when times are tough. Appreciate all the Hawks, but finding a way to overcome recruiting issues will always be big for Iowa.

Good lord man. Take a deep deep breath. Maybe drink some water

I said the disadvantage “isn’t as big as it once was”.

There are better athletes coming out of the state today than in the 80’s. That’s a fact and a good thing worth celebrating.

If you were worried.... it’s ok - we’re still underdogs. Sorry to suggest otherwise

Beyond a STUPID post!

You're amusing.

Reread the post. If you assume I don't think we need to recruit outside of Iowa, I am not the one whose intelligence is in question. We need to develop strong recruiting ties across the country. This state would not -alone - support Iowa football. All that post says is there are many impactful Iowans on the field, and I appreciate the efforts of our state's coaches. Any inference you made beyond this is on you.

How many Iowans in the two Deeps and how many Iowans does KF typically offer and sign? I would guess Iowa signs 6 to 8 in-state players per year. Then the walk on program typically gives 1-2 quality in-state athletes per year.

For CB, WR,RB those are nearly 100% out of state athletes.
