Iowa Opens -5 @ Indiana

This one makes me a little nervous. Sleepy atmosphere, another new MLB and still not sure about health of CBs, IKM and Fant.
This x1000. Hawks really have to bring it this week, get ahead early and get pressure with front 4! I hope OJ and Hankins are back, but Moss played his guts out and Brents looks like the next Dez King. Hockaday's injury not as bad as first thought per Kirk and Niemann still another 1-2 weeks away so we shall see. Also read B10 office can still review Jones' targeting so he may be available yet for first half Sat.

I was wondering about that targeting because after reporters said he is definitely out I had some vague recollection of one seeing a decision overturned by the league. But that is good to know because all he really did was put his shoulder into him. Not sure what else he is supposed to do there.

Welch will be fine at MLB against a passing team. If we were facing a run-heavy offense I'd be a little more concerned.

Indiana plays Iowa tough more often than not. I don't doubt Iowa is the better team when at full strength, but with all the injuries they have, I am concerned it could go South. I see Iowa winning, but not easily enough for me to breath easy until the clock reads :00. A field goal might be the difference. I hope I am proven wrong and can enjoy a Hawkeye Donkey Stompin'.

I'm not saying that anybody should be scared of Indiana. But when you see them Saturday, you will see a big difference in the size, speed, and depth on our roster. I dont pay a ridiculous amount of attention to recruiting rankings. I look at offer lists. And it's a heck of a difference when your whole roster is full of guys with multiple power 5 offers and not multiple MAC offers. Yeah, flipping (1) 4 star RB from OSU may not be a big deal. But when it's the best recruit you've ever landed(yes it's not signing day), it looks good. That's on top of flipping a 4 star QB from FSU. Flipping 2 LBs from Tennessee. Flipping Larry Tracy from you guys. Landing Beau Robbins. The Freshman class at Indiana is the best I have ever seen here, which is why most of them are in the 2 deep. And most of them are playing well. Stevie Scott. Reese Taylor. Ronnie Walker. Jaylin Williams. Devon Matthews. All of these guys are going to be really good players in the Big Ten. Indiana is never going to pass up OSU or the other 3 big programs in the East. But all you need to do is get 1 or 2 wins a year against those guys and I think they eventually they will. I wont be shocked if this team is ranked next season.
You realize our recruiting has picked up too right?
You also realize we've taken quite a few of those "mac" kids and turned them into some for of nfl players right?
I don't think we'll be worried about IN in a couple years ;). You might be the ones that are lucky to be playing us now. All new LB and 2 now with injuries and 1 missing the 1st half on a BS targeting call. As of now 2 true frosh starting at corner. We are going to be a much better team next year and probably as good or better than that in 2 years imo.

Were we even still recruiting Tracy when he committed to you guys?

They only beat Buttgers by 7? Lol
pretty sure we did as well last time we played them :(
don't look at 1 game and read into it
especially when they were playing OSU the next week and when they lead 24-7 to start the 4th

I haven't really watched them play, but I'm not gonna look at a final score and make a prediction based on that.

Indiana has a better than average offense. So this game scares me because of Iowa’s injuries at LB and CB. Iowa will have to score at least 31 to win this game.
so you think they are going to score 30 then?

Sounds like the summer of '18 Nebraska battle cry.

In all seriousness, Iowa could lose this game, because, well, it unfortunately seems to be the Iowa thing to do. I would like to think that they have taken the next step and won't lose a game they should win, but I know better than that.

The last several times Iowa lost to Indiana, Iowa either had a terrible team or the season was a crushing disappointment. This year doesn't quite have that vibe. This has the feel of a game Iowa will win something like 24-21.

If IU does win, I wouldn't take it as a sign of a Hoosier football renaissance.

We dominated them in the 1st half and then went into "run the clock out mode."

You should understand. Your coach invented that philosophy.
There was never a coach who tried to run the clock out 20 years ago? That is surprising....

I think this could be tough for Iowa given that they are pretty banged up. No excuses though... Iowa is favored for a reason. So far this team has shown everything I've wanted. 3-0 non-con. Outplay Wisky... although different outcome would have been nice... boat race MN, this game is simply get a W any way possible and get out of town. 1 pt or 50... just win.

Reading this thread I envision grown men laying in the fetal position wringing their hands staring into space and weeping.
