Iowa State will advance to the Sweet 16; No question about it after Purdue's huge upset

Go ahead and start a poll. You think ISU wins by 20+ and I say less than 20. #IDIOT

I have no problems doing the poll on a 20 point ISU victory if you have no problem doing the poll that ARK LA is a quality team based on 4 losses with that schedule. #BackItUp

Laughable. Post their actual schedule and then come back and tell me about KenPom which I believe takes margin of victory into consideration.

ISU by 20+

KenPom includes their schedule in his rating of being 49 spots higher than Temple

I do not care if KenPom says they are x 1000 spots better just post their schedule.

ARK LA played DePaul, Tulsa & TTech as their most notable. That's the best right there (please look at their schedule and post any other notable teams I have missed - please do)

Temple played UNC, Villanova, Utah, Wisconsin, Minny, Butler, Cincy (2), Memphis (2), UConn (2) Tulsa (2) .... among others.

Ok how's that 49 spot difference look now that encompasses SOS in KenPom? Right, that's what I thought.

As much as we think we know about teams, the tournament always throws some curves. No way I thought Yale could beat Baylor. I did not think it would be a blow out, but thought Baylor's size and athleticism would win out. I did not plan for two Baylor guys shoving each other during a time out. Scott Drew and Baylor cannot be too far from NCAA inquiries.

UALR has athletes and the Sun Belt is not a conference of Princeton offenses. Those teams like to run and shoot and are full of under-recruited guys and transfers from bigger programs. Not sure if anyone caught the BYU-UAB NIT game the other night, but talk about crazy. BYU passes up layups to shoot 3's and shoots 3's when they have 3 on 1 fast breaks. I know the NCAA is much more compelling, but the BYU-VT game tonight will be fun to watch during commercial breaks.

My Cyclone friends seem to think that this game is a lock and that's far from the truth, especially given ISU's history of losing to inferior opponents in the tourney. UALR had some extremely good guard play and from what it sounds it's been consistent all year. ISU, however, is very up and down with their guard play. They never seem to have everyone clicking at the same time. UALR could very well be a Cinderella. VCU, George Mason and WSU, UALR could be next.

'clones win. Little Rock played the classic overachiever game against pu. And pu has subpar guard play.
'clone guards better than LR guards, and it's not close. LR won't have a guy go Steph Curry 2 games in a row.

Crazy that you think ISU had an easier path than Iowa to the sweet 16? Temple is one of the worst shooting teams in the nation which is how Iowa was winning early in the season - other teams missing open shots. Toward the end of the season, those were being made and the loses started piling. Also, doesn't Villanova have a couple starters that are injured? If ISU hadn't played very well yesterday, IONA would have beat them. Iowa will win easily today, Temple is weak.

"If you want to crown them, then crown their ass. But, they are who we thought they were, and we let them off the hook."

In all seriousness, ISU is going to have their hands full with these guys. If it's true that certain teams were over seeded, then it's also true that other teams were under seeded. Clearly, ALR was one of those teams. I'd much rather the clones play Yale than these little rock guys.

But I get the let's-jinx-it thing.

ISU by 20+. ARK LR took advantage of Purdue's ineptitude (late game Iowa'esque) and low basketball IQ. Combine that with the white haired refs bizarre whistles and some ridiculous made shots down the stretch like a the back iron bounce up in the air then through the hoop 3 ball, the off balance 25 foot hand in face 3 ball with shot clock expiring and the side fade away skimmed glass never meant for it to draw glass 2. Those kinds of shots never fall for cinderalla in game 2.

I think this game is close, never underestimate momentum. Both top 5 in scoring in the nation. All those ridiculous shots... It's called shooters touch. Go Hawks!

They just backed it up with a win over Purdue.

So did Hampton I guess over 2 seeded ISU. Yep that meant that Hampton would have won the Big12 that year as they backed it up. UAB would have won the Big 12 tourney last year too.

Way to magnify the struggle to the sweet 16. Most programs need to get breaks like this and make no mistake that was a huge break to get your first 2 games against Iona & ARK LR.

Jay Williams was speaking highly of ARK-Little Rock, with their match-up against Iowa State.
ARK-Little Rock only turned the ball over 9 times, in 50 minutes.
ARK-Little Rock shooting was pretty good, compared to Purdue, who had 2 big guys, and refused to go inside.

Clowns should win, which is all that counts, but it will be close.
Jay Williams also picked Iona to beat ISU, ISU has a great guard, Purdue, does not have a guard on its team, its a guard's tournament.

ISU has a big in Niang who is a much better offensive player than the Purdue bigs

Also ISU will most likely have a pretty large contingency in the crowd. It will be a home game for ISU

No way Iowa State will screw this one up.

12 seed Arkansas Little Rock's run will be over soon.

On Saturday, Iowa State advances to the Sweet 16; trust me on this one; place your bets, too.

Heeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy your superior beat you to the punch on this unoriginal post.

If Butler wins, will ISU be the first team to advance to the Elite 8 without playing a 1-8 seed?

Hardly a surprise. LR played out of their heads in game 1. And faced a purdue team that had bad guard play all year long.
Very unlikely LR was going to go off for a second game.
