I thought earlier this season Iowa State was a legit Final 4 team. After an early exit from both this year’s Big 12 and NCAA tournaments, not to mention finishing 5th in the regular season standings, you have to consider this season a failure. So what happened? Overrated? Coaching? Bad team chemistry?

November/December it looked like the best isu team in a generation. Then Gilbert got hurt, Lipsey got hurt, momcilovic got hurt, and Jones went through an illness and they could never achieve the potential of the team.

Season isn’t a failure, it’s just a what could have been type year.

The one ISU fan on here I don’t ignore is correct.

They were rolling then Arizona half court shot to send to OT happened and they lost. With that loss finished rest of year 8-8. When healthy their 8 man rotation was great. But Achilles heel was health. Momcilivic missed games with wrist. Jones & Lipsey banged up. But Gilbert injury killed them. One guy could get to basket when he wanted late in shot clock. I remember watching big Monday blowout at KU. Fran fraschilla said with their depth his concern is that 2nd game be first or 2nd weekend with 48 hrs or less between games could cause problems and proved true today.

Have heard this Rumor in clone land from 2 people that are fans and both said Gilbert became a distraction late in the year with his injury. both insinuated he could’ve potentially play this weekend and asked for more NIL $. That’s why he didn’t even travel to Cleveland which is one thing where I think maybe there could be more because he traveled to other games including big 12 tourney and was on the bench in street clothes. Figured if true hear more by now but maybe now season is over if any truth whatsoever or anything going on more than injury with him may hear as time goes on.

Oh, boy oh boy oh boy, don't you just love "college" athletics, nowadays?

I don't watch nba g-league games....college sports is now pre-NFL, NBA professional sports. I still follow Iowa, but I'm mostly
boycotting anything I see on TV that is not an Iowa game. There eventually need to be some rules of fairness.

I did read an article about Illinois fans complaining about Underwood blowing it with his high paid team. Probably a lot harder
job to run a team now that some of the players are getting $500K or more.

Sorry but being objective, it was an enormous failure of a season.

You did barely win your Super Bowl game though.

So maybe beating a bad Iowa does make it a successful season to ISU fans.

Drake would’ve taken you to the woodshed btw.

Your last sentence is exactly why you cannot have low paid, inexperienced coaches leading in this current college set up. It only takes a few malcontents to ruin a team.

Long season and injuries .

Every team has injuries and the season is the same length for everyone. 3 of the 4 players Bryce mentioned played over 30 minutes each last night. Boo hoo.
ISU was over seeded.
9-9 their last 18 games and got a 3 seed?
They got the best seed and best location possible. Home court enviroment for ISU against the 8th best team in the SEC. ISU played last night like they played the last 20 games or so. (like an 8 or 9 seed).

ISU fans will have to look down again when they see me in town with Iowa gear, Both their mens and womens teams completely fell short of pre-season predictions.
I remember back in late fall when the Des Moines media was slobbering all over the fact Iowa State’s football, men’s bball and women’s bball teams were all in the AP Top 10 at the same time. Kept thinking, it’s not where you start, it’s where you end up. Men’s bball will somehow probably end up finishing in the top 25, though they don’t deserve it. And I think the football team ended up in the top 25 thanks to Cam Ward sitting out the second half of their bowl game.
