Iowa State

This is the world we live in. You'd best get used to it...Iowa will have a whole new lineup next season and that's just how its going to go. You'll have a couple/few guys carry through and a rotating cast around them of NIL "travelers". I hate it as much as most college fans...but if you DON'T play that game you end up with...a Licklighter/McCaffrey situation.
It's Pro BB now. Nobody goes to Iowa or Iowa State anymore for the" good old university". It's all about money for coaches and players and they don't give 2 shits about the school or their fans. If fans want to thump their chests about the teams the University/NIL bought, go for it, but don't pretend that it has anything to do with the school.

ISU fans like to rip IA no matter what too...the only difference I see is you can come over here and rip us back...we can't do that on your site...you will get banned for even responding. I agree staying 4 years will definitely become a rarity in the current crappy climate.
Not true. I root for Iowa every time they aren't playing ISU. I'm far from the only Cyclone who does this.

Sad...kids growing up now will never know what a great thing we once had.

In 2015, Iowa football team was 12-0 and was one play from winning in the conference title game. Losing like they did to Stanford in the Rose Bowl ruined that season for me.

Finishing the season the way they did, ISU was gifted a 3 seed and got to play in front of a home crowd in the first round. They finished 5th in the league, lost early in the Big 12 tourney and was demolished by a middle of the pack, SEC team. I guess you can sit around and enjoy your thoughts from November and December because they were no more than an average team the last half of the season
I agree

2015 was great up until Stanford. Sure we lost to MSU in championship, but at least it looked like we belonged. That MSU team then went on to play Alabama and got blown out. Iowa was blown out in first quarter by Stanford. That did ruin 2015 for me. The overachieved, got lucky, had a lot of heart....but not enough talent. There were not a legit 12-2 team. The team with STanzi, Clayborn that won their bowl game and nearly beat OSU, that was a great team.

When Lute Olson took a 5th place B1G team to Final4, that was best basketball moment for me. It's where you end up at end of the year in NCAA tourney from my POV. The polls that get voted on, those are just opinions, not facts.

Yes it is where you end up in NCAA tourney. The Garza-Weezy-Murray-JBO team that lost to Oregon was Top8 at one point in the season. After the beat down by Oregon in NCAA, they didn't even make the Sweet16. I think they got a Top 20 rating in final poll, but the really finished somewhere in the 17-32 range given they lost in round of 32.

ISU fans can kid themselves if they want, what a letdown. Unless they get an NIL boost from their billionaire, they're in trouble because everyone is now playing the NIL game.
Not that it matters, but who is their NIL billionaire?

The Ankeny guy? Albaugh?

You may not be the only one, but you are definitely in the minority of Clone fans.
It goes both ways but I was responding to the poster who said Hawk fans always rip ISU...and I'm like, this is bizarre AF...like has he even been to an ISU message board...lol

There’s no one guy providing all the NIL. That said…a strong network has been built and it seems that a good bit of that ties into ISU’s NBA ties. From what I’ve read though…it’s mostly just great work on the ground by some guys that really go out and hunt the money.

Teams like ISU and Iowa will need to get creative to be able to compete for players.

I agree and also to point got to get a little lucky too. Find right guys who fit. Isu last 2-3 years hit home runs with guys like Curtis jones and Jefferson who were sought after but not by the blue bloods with big offers. Iowa came close as we were a final 3 schools for Tonje for Wisconsin who ended up on an AA team and 1st all big 10.

It was a great run, but no fluke. Remember Lester was hurt for a big chunk of the regular season, otherwise Iowa would have been in the mix for the BTT.
