Watching this is getting me psyched for football season..... aaaand now I'll have to stay up for a few more hours to watch the overtime win.

Akrum and Montgomery both balled out in this game. Smith-Marsette too. Great game.
Gervase and Hooker being fairly green hurt Iowa quite a bit in this game as well.
I don't remember how many touchdowns Fant had, but if Stanley was on, he'd have had 3 more in this game alone. Forgot how many missed opportunities we had.
Also, what might have been with a healthy Butler. He looked good at times here.

Ha! Looks like a cross between a character from Willy Wonka and the broadcaster from the Hunger Games movies.
By my count.. there were 4 wide open misses that could have been TDs. One of those drives they went on to score a TD anyway with not much time left before half so that actually benefited them. Not all of that was on Stanley though... although some of it was. The miss to ISM... Stanley threw the ball to the sideline and ISM ran a route that started angling to the middle of the field slightly... so its unclear if ISM ran the wrong route or Stanley threw it to the wrong spot... either way, cause is lack of experience and result is a punt.
The misses to Fant, gosh it seems like he could have had one or two of those. The one on 3rd down after the Hesse interception though... that was a classic panic and chuck the ball move by Stanley. He makes that throw 9 times out of 10 now. Doesn't have to be perfect... just lob it up there because Fant was all by himself.

Watching that made me appreciate the work the BTN does to get replays down to 60 minutes.

And, Jackson looked far from a "robbed" Thorpe candidate. That goes to reinforce just how much growth (and growth mindset) a team and its fans have to create and respect.
