This isn't for the game, but a matter of comparison of schedules.
Northwestern has beaten: Ranked Stanford at home, a blowout vs EIU, A road win vs Duke, a close call vs Ball State, and Minnesota
Iowa has beaten: FCS, At Iowa State, Pitt, A blowout vs North Texas, a road win vs a ranked Wisconsin.
Coming into the season, neither team had high expectations or poll spots. The difference. Northwestern is 9 spots ahead of Iowa. I would actually argue that Iowa's schedule has been harder. I am starting to agree pre season polls are stupid. Now no, I'm not arguing the world is against Iowa, and if we take care of Illinois, and Northwestern we will sky, just interesting to see how inconsistent the polls are.
