Iowa Wrestling recruits in action Jan 11-12: Final RESULTS

Incoming Iowa Wrestling recruits had a very good weekend of competition. Abe Assad picked up two first period falls at the Mega Duals. Zach Glazier went up to 195 and 220 to pick up two falls at the Kiffmeyer Duals. With the falls, Glazier now has 200 career wins. Cobe Siebrecht stormed through the Solon Invitational with two pins and two tech falls.

Jesse Ybarra had an impressive tournament in winning the Peoria Wrestling Invitational Tournament of Champions in Peoria, AZ. Ybarra had three falls before winning a 17-6 major decision in the finals of the 35-team tournament. I joined the premium service for Arizona-Wrestling.com and was able to watch Ybarra’s finals match. Hawk fans, we are getting a real good wrestler. Steady pressure, a real good athlete, and a lot of offense.

Patrick Kennedy was 5-0 with four falls in under a minute and a tech fall at the Osage Duals. Colby Schriever placed second at the Bob Sharp Invitational. Ryan Sokol scored a fall in a dual meet on Friday and did not have a tournament on Saturday.

I really liked the picture of Sokol, Glazier, Kennedy, and Cullan Schriever at the Minnesota dual meet yesterday. Minnesota is sending us some great recruits in Sokol, Glazier, and Kennedy and Iowa for Schriever.

Our recruits are looking real good.

Maybe not the right thread, but I didn't think it was worth starting a new one so I am going to ask my recruiting question here. Sorry if not the right spot.

@Todd Conner have you heard much about Stevie Barnes from Underwood? He lost a match or two early at 113, but since moving to 106 he has been really good. He beat the #1 ranked wrestler from 3A today (Iowa City kid I believe) and then the #1 ranked 1A kid from Alburnett who was a finalist last year. Just wondering if there has been much talk about him yet? He is only a freshmen so maybe not, but appears to be off to a great start. I actually saw this today from a tweet from Alex Thomsen's dad.

Stevie Ray Barnes has been on our Iowa Black or Gold Teams in middle school an elementary divisions. He is fun to watch an yet another Good lightweight in the state. We have a good crop of lightweights coming through right now.
