Iowa's next coach? Maybe this guy

Timing is perfect for Bielema. He's probably looking at 9+ wins next season.

Based on what? Your butt itching?

Although I guess he should be able to notch these fairly easily (in that vaunted SEC schedule):
UTEP
Toledo
UT Martin

and Texas Tech.

What are his other 5? Only beat two of the remaining teams on the schedule this year.

Can I count you as in the group that would be pissed off at him if he wins less than 9?

What's the deal with the guy from Northern Illinois. Huskies have won close to 60 games in the last five years. That's a pretty good record in a decent mid level conference.

Probably could recruit Chicago. Just a thought.

Rod Carey has only been there two years. Guy before that is at NC State, guy before that is at Minnesota.

Gruden is signed through 2021 and Ferentz through 2020. Maybe there is something to this?? Right when 2020 is over, 2021 starts! Think about it!

I like Toledo's Matt Cambell as a fall back guy, and lets face it, we're good at getting those.

He's young, won 9 games in his 2nd year there, runs a pistol/spread with emphasis on the run, and plays QB's with long hair

Fifteen for me (the gutless display at the Horseshoe).
I was there. Feel your pain. You go for the win in that situation, environment, with that loaded class as upperclassman. Pissed it down his league. To this day, I don’t know what the man was thinking. Luck was on his side that day minus Terry Stoss dropping two perfect passes for a td and first down. Pisses me off.

Clearly, it would have been a huge mistake to hire PJ Fleck.

Tough to say about Matt Campbell.

Funny, though, reading these comments from 2015.
Campbell has had a few underwhelming seasons at ISU, I think when Purdy was a senior the were ranked #8 , we beat them there and they had a few about 5 losses so it was way down from a 10 ten finish. They had a losing record just a couple of years ago like KF in 2012. KF was pretty good from 2013 on until the total Brian Turd show. Brians first few years as OC he was using other people's recruits on offense, man it fell apart in 2021

This year they squeaked by about 3 games which would have made them 8-4 or 7-5. Campbell does usually have a good offense though which is entertaining for their fans.

Trey Stross?

I still think the next coach is either an internal promotion or someone we've barely (or never) heard of.
I’d say 90% odds it’s internal. And if Seth or Levar are hired and keep the coaching structure in place, they have a great chance to improve the program.

I agree and think it is a smart play for Beth. You keep all the continuity with the program with the possible upside of tweaking some things we could get better at. You also probably buy a few extra years of Parker at DC.

Brian Hartline will be a hot name soon. Co-offensive coordinator at Ohio State, young, great recruiter, high energy, and has played in the NFL. I think that would solve the WR room issues for the Hawks!
He was a hot name a couple yrs ago but wouldnt leave OSU. Then he failed as a playcaller and got demoted so I dont think his name has much juice these days

Very interesting article on PJ Fleck over at Western Michigan. He seems to be the anti-Ferentz: young, creative, energetic, and a fabulous recruiter. Of course, how hard is it to recruit kids to Kalamazoo what with all the beaches and babes, the awesome mountains only a few minutes away, and those tremendous facilities and all that money, not to mention the pull of a program that's never won a bowl game and plays in the MAC. Nonetheless, you might want to scan this article and try to picture this guy in Iowa City: http://www.si.com/college-football/2015/02/05/pj-fleck-western-michigan-recruiting
Thank GOD we dodged that bullet

Jimbo Fisher, Phillip Fulmer, Lloyd Carr, Pete Carroll, Bob Stoops, Jim Tressel, Nick Saban. at two schools, Urban Meyer at two schools , two fired LSU coaches and Gene Chizik All have won National Titles during the Kirk Ferentz tenure at Iowa. All are available.....
