Is anyone getting backlash?

My Iowa State friends (I grew up 20 minutes from Ames so I didn't have many options) are absolutely vilifying Iowa over sticking with the Stripe Out instead of doing gold for the Iowa State golfer. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Its not a them problem its a YOU problem for listening.

Iowa State and UNI were not planning any sort of color theme for their game already. We are comparing apples to oranges here. To have the ANF stripe game planned for months and then to try and switch it to all gold 3 days in advance would be an absolute nightmare and would look terrible. To act as if Iowa is a villain or is being disrespectful is asinine. On another note, I fully get the sense of solidarity, but whether I'm wearing yellow or black on Saturday is not going to in any way make me think more or less about what happened earlier this week. I'm not saying that to be a jerk, as what happened is horrible and is going to remain that way regardless of what color I am wearing Saturday.

Now Minnesota is going to honor her. The media will certainly have fun at Iowa's expense over this if nothing is done. I am betting the hawks will do something much to the chagrin of some on here.
False. If Iowa does something it won’t be for one singular person. Anyways half the stadium will be wearing yellow (gold).

Yes, the media will go after Iowa for probably have a moment of silence for her before the game and then broadcasting the entire wave at the end of the first quarter...

Why do you do this? We all feel terrible for her, her family, her teammate, her friends. Does that make us villians for wearing a certain colored shirt to a football game that has been planned since the summer?

I glanced at CF. Predicably Psycho Twins and his minions are ripping Iowa. Quite a few are saying no big deal, etc. it is ISU losers that hate Iowa more than love their own team that are making this a deal. Any excuse to go sfter Iowa. And if Iowa does anything to honor and respect her, it of course won't be good enough for the ISU idiots. I also noticed that they are spending pages on the Big 10 West and what ISU's record would be if they were in the Big 10. You seriously cannot make up what ISU fans will use as an excuse.

Pretty sure BTown is 1976 from fanatic. He predictably disappeared after the loss, and then started posting again after the Oklahoma loss stating that Iowa St. would have won by at least 2 TDs if it wasn't their first game and the Oklahoma game proves it.

Did ISU or their fans do anything to officially honor the loss of U of I student Mollie Tibbetts at their home game against OK? I suspicion that answer is 'no'. It's not expected or necessary. Wasn't there a vigil for the ISU golfer in IC yesterday. That's more appropriate.

Outside of online I have not heard one person talk about the wearing yellow anywhere.
Gary Rima said UNI fans are being encouraged to wear yellow (the deceased golfer's favorite color) to their home game against Hampton.

If "media" means Randy P, you're probably right. Otherwise, the national media will continue to drool over the wave.

I'm perfectly fine with a moment of silence, but the stripe game has been in place for months. I think you're overestimating the level people will care what Iowa does.

I have a hard time believing that anybody would be mad at Iowa. Or maybe I just don't want to believe there is that much stupidity in the world.

It is certainly a tragic situation but we have had the stripe game scheduled for Wisconsin for months.

ISU should honor her memory, she seemed like an intelligent, beautiful, talented young woman who's bright light was snuffed out way too early. My sincere condolences and prayers to her family and those at ISU who knew her.

If ISU fans don't understand that then there is no helping them. Iowa has to do there own thing.

Is there any irony in the fact the killer looks like the average clown fan drooling for a win over big brother? Story County is a magical place....especially in its hobo jungles.
I'm not sure he was even a fan. Homeless dude from Coom Rapids is all I seen. The guy needs a bullet to his skull.

Actually Minnesota is going to honor a former lineman that died Wednesday at the age of 22 of cancer. The young man started 5 games for the Gophers last year but quit because of concussions. But thank you for coming here to stir things up.

Literally the folks like CyTwins and Btown would criticize Iowa if Iowa decided to switch to all gold for trying to "co-opt" the tragedy. And they are predictably ripping Iowa for not going to all gold.

Condolences to the family and the folks who knew this golfer at Iowa State. Horrible what happened. Awful.

FWIW, I wouldn't waste a bullet or a watt of energy on him. Once he gets to prison, his life will be a living hell. The general populous inside don't take kindly to women killers. He'll be looking over his shoulder.

Students at ISU, Iowa, UNI, lose there lives pretty much every school year without recognition. She was the ISU female athlete of the year and was to be recognized this Saturday at the game, before this tragedy. UNI, B12 schools, Akron, are all participating in recognizing her through their athletic departments as a sign of respect and solidarity and grief. I can assure you that if this happened to a student athlete in Iowa City, ISU would recognize them without a 2nd thought.

Easy to explain....no game 1st week cost the Clones 2 Ws....really simple

A quarter of my co-workers graduated from Iowa State, and probably half of them have season tickets to football games. All of them know I attended U of Iowa and have season tickets for our program. Not a single one has mentioned anything to me about this, and I talked with many about the death of Celia within a few days of the occurrence.

I have kind of a funny ISU story. One of my very best friends is a hardcore ISU fan. It can get a little ugly leading up to game day. Last year he took the lose very hard and I rubbed it in the most ever.

Well this year, I didn't call him until Wednesday after the game. He asked if I'd tried to call him and I said no. He said, "Really?" I said, "Yeah, this is the first time I've tried to call you."

He laughed and said, "Well I had you blocked for 3 days you effing prick!!!!" LOL, he still didn't get me!!!!!!!!!

Your team lost to Iowa because they’re soft in the trenches. Iowa’s lines threw your boys around with impunity. And you know it.
We lost to Iows because we had no game film to review and correct mistakes. One false start penalty cost us the game. It would have been an easy win with the game experience the prior week.

My thoughts:
1. I am very bothered and concerned that recent events occurred anywhere let alone in my home state that I love. I hope their families/friends are able to find peace some day.

2. Anyone getting into any argument involving anyone's handling of a school/person's tributes to any recent deaths is being a d bag and disrespecting those that were lost.

3. HH guy tried to big dick the school/team he claims to love so much and comes across like a child throwing a tantrum. You run a Facebook page reposting pictures, dude.

4. I don't have tickets to the game Saturday night but will be tailgating. It wouldn't be the first time I ended up scalping tickets while 3 or 12 beers deep and it wouldn't be the last. I will be wearing black regardless of my seat location (I don't think I look good in all yellow).

5. I really hope the stripes look as good as they always do.
