Both.

For those who do it professionally, college and about 10% of your league bowlers it is a sport.

The way bowling has evolved in the last 10 years or so is amazing. The practice time, mental prep and ever changing dynamics of the balls and lanes is crazy nuts. Having said that I have no issue if someone thinks it is a game.

if you can drink large quantities of beer and still play effectively it’s not a sport. that’s my rule
How do you feel about golf? Is it a sport because I usually play a little better after a couple of beers?

great question. if you have to walk the course it’s a sport but if you have a cart it’s a game. drinking large quantities of beer while walking the course on a hot day can severely impact your scores

It's a liesure activity. If you can do it reasonably well and smoke/drink at the same time it's not a sport.

Simple.

Golf, bowling, horseshoes, corn hole, etc. all are leisure activities.

Don't confuse "competitive" with "sports."

so banging whiskey’s wife while he watches is a sport? who knew
I'll tell ya - I was suprised how many rules there were. You meet a woman like Whiskey's mom and you think it's pretty much anything goes. Not so. The USGA has a thinner rule book! I guess you don't manage that kind of consistent throughout without sufficient guidelines.

Yeah, I'd like to make millions doing a leisure activity. Golf and bowling certainly meet the criteria of sport. Horseshoes is close to sport but probably closer to leisure.

People legitimately consider Nascar drivers to be athletes?!

I used to believe they weren't. But once I accepted that they have to drive in a vehicle that gets over 100+ degrees for 500 miles in only say 3 hours - my bet is the physical stresses they are under are comparable to say a jet fighter pilot, and you have to be in pretty incredible shape to handle those kinds of forces.

And that's "just Nascar". Imagine what an F1 driver has to endure!

I don't watch much racing any more...but what I do see is when I do watch it, you don't see any fat asses climbing into the cockpits any more.

It is a sport if you read the definition of a sport which is a physical activity using skill in which people compete. Golf is a sport. Table Tennis is. I suppose if someone goes bowling by themselves it might be a game of practice
