Is Chris Hassel right? Is now talking Iowa to the Final Four.

This board will explode if the Hawks struggle at Wisc.!!!

Who fits this description?

4) Then we have to trust Fran to play the right hand to win the game that night. He was good at finding the right combos. Then he wasn’t. Murray, PMac, JT, Nunge then Perkins and Ulis can all increase the defensive intensity and have active hands, quick feet, shot blocking ability. Some of them can score pretty well. Can Fran pull the trigger on the right combinations to win the game on a particular night?

I dunno if he can. Over the years he has said after the fact he should have played certain players more on a given night. Will he be able to read the game , matchups, etc and give the right guys minutes? It’s tricky. Easy to say after the fact some players should have played more/less. Can Fran get it right during the game?
There is a reason Fran has never taken a team to the sweet 16 and I’ll let you figure out why.

This team can survive without Frederick. He is really good but I don’t think we can count on a 100 percent healthy CJ or anywhere close to it the rest of the year. To get wins most of these things have to happen:
1) Lukas gotta be Luka.
2) Weiskamp keep playing like he can- offensively don’t be afraid hunt his shot, shoot threes, be a threat to drive, minimize the long 2 attempts even though he has it in his game, rebound like he wants to be a NBA player; and don’t disappear in second halves.

Those are your two studs. They need to bring it everytime.

3) JBo - what do you do when he can’t get shots? If he is a liability defensively he’s got sit more. If you can get him clean looks by having him play off the ball or running plays for him or whatever then let him shoot through slumps. This one can get tricky. Some games he is probably suited for 18 minutes while others it might be 35.

I could not agree more. Weiskamp is now in his 3rd year. He's had some pretty good numbers his first 2 years but he's also disappeared in a lot of games as we know, especially when the games get physical like against Michigan State. IFhe can continue to play like this we are a very dangerous team. We've struggled to find our 3rd scorer since CJ has been out. Not sure we can count on Connor to do that ever again, but I like how he came out actually hunting for his shot. He was open and he shot it. Face it, he has been awful in this 4-5 game stretch. And to his credit Fran has sat him. I'm hoping maybe Connor realized he can't be out there with a stat line of 3-3-3. Nunge is really coming on plus Murray looks to have found his groove again. We have plenty of players even w/out CJ.

Ding ding we have a winner. Can Iowa keep it up on the defensive side? That is the question.
To ‘keep it up on the defensive side” requires what?

#1 playing better defenders/rebounders. Murray and Nunge are the best 2 defenders and best 2 rebounders With the added value that they both are highly efficient offensive contributors.
#2 playing defensive a M2M , to reduce 3Pt FGA and second chance rebounding.
#3 optimizing Garza minutes. (Only 23 at tMSU) (only 27 min v UI and at ILlinois)

nunge and Murray played 42 minutes at tMSU, so we see there is still upside in playing these 2 more minutes a game.
Recall they only played 14m each in IU loss and Garza only played 28 min in other IU loss (including an energy draining 20 2H minutes)

Completely agree, as long as we get decent production from our bench, if Luka and Weezy are at top of their games, we can go far.

The next tier of guys that just cannot disappear are:

JoBo
Nunge
Keegan
