Is Iowa ranked tomorrow?

The team will not be ranked tomorrow, but they should be. They are the best 3 loss team in the country based on what I saw today.

Another rollercoaster week fo us fans. SUPER pissed 2 weeks ago. Unhappy about that ugly MN win last week. Now we are a top team. :)

Just beat Wisconsin PLEASE!
I know too many Wisconsin fans, they need a big ole L

Not the same Stanford, we didn't show up either wiseass.
Kind of like OSU today. I'm not so naive to think we are really better than OSU. We came to play, they walked into a hornets nest. It happens.
Just like us in the Rose Bowl.
I get it but I hope you eat diseased crow.

My post had nothing to do with Stanford talent or Stanford beating us in the Rose bowl. They lost today to Wash St which isn't a bad loss. Didn't see any other obvious losses by teams near the bottom of the top 25. Overreact much?

I was picking up what you were putting down. Huge over react by poster ripping you. Over sensitivity at its finest.

No way a 13-0 P5 conference champ is left out. Never ever.
Agree. It is not Wisconsin’s fault they have the Big 10 schedule that they do. No different than Iowa’s in 2015, yet the Hawks would have been in the playoffs had they beaten MSU.

As long as they have the same kick ass play calling @ Wisconsin I'll be so excited for the future, the rankings will work themselves out!

After that horrible decision, want bet there is a new punter next week?
There has been a new punter....he is the rugby style punter which has been really really good. Gersonde (sp) has been the conventional punter for weeks. The kicking game has been really good since the switch. Coverage on either punt of kick has been outstanding

If Iowa's not in, I don't care if the BIG has a playoff team or not. But, as several of us have noted from time to time, the playoff HAS to be EIGHT teams: you win a major conference title, you've earned a playoff shot. Then add 3 wild card teams, which could include a second SEC team in some years, a second BIG team, even a Notre Dame perhaps. Eight teams is the right number. More than that is too many. Less than that isn't enough. So the BCS was bogus, but this four-team thing is, in many ways, even worse.

I remember thinking this, too.

I don't know if Iowa will be ranked, because it won't matter with Wisconsin coming up.

I don't like the idea of the B1G not having any teams in the CFP, but wouldn't it be awesome if Iowa knocked two contenders out in consecutive weeks?
I had this discussion with someone else on here. What if we beat Wisconsin and they go on to win the B1G championship with 1 loss. They in?

Depends :)
What other teams have losses and WHO they beat in the championship. My guess is that they are OUT

Sorry, still touchy over the Stanford butt kicking we got.

ranked behind a another 3 loss team that we beat is fking LOL. it being ISU makes it even moreso

This might be the year.

I think Oklahoma will win out. They're in. I think Clemson wins out. They're in. Notre Dame likely wins out (Miami is another fake id) and they're in. I haven't even mentioned Georgia or Alabama yet.

I think you'll see #1 Alabama vs #4 Oklahoma and #2 Clemson vs #3 Notre Dame. It's possible Georgia could still get in after losing the SEC championship game vs. Alabama (assuming they beat Auburn next week).

Regardless, there's 5 teams right there I would put in front of an undefeated Wisconsin team for 4 playoff spots. It's also worth mentioning an undefeated Miami team (even though it's very unlikely to happen) would go ahead of Wisconsin, and perhaps if TCU managed to win out they would even go before Wisconsin.

I think the schedule really works against Wisconsin. Their schedule is worse than Iowa's in 2015. Way worse. It's the schedule that keeps them out.

Oklahoma won't be in with a loss to Iowa State on their schedule who Iowa and others have beaten already, one of them to Iowa who beat Ohio State that devalues their win over Ohio State too. An undefeated Wisconsin beating Iowa (if that happens) would likely have a lot more of a help for their RPI when recent wins and losses have been updated in those ratings. Iowa beating Wisconsin though would definitely put them out then.

It's annoying that Iowa State is also one notch ahead of Iowa in today's RPI rankings, which one would think are more scientific than others. But I guess margin of Iowa's victory over Ohio State in that ranking doesn't isn't factored in to this rating system as just beating them does. Look at Iowa's strength of schedule in that rating too. Only two other teams in those rankings have a tougher SOS than Iowa's (#9 SOS) in it (#40 Boston College at 5-4 (#4 SOS) and #49 Florida State at 3-5 (#1 SOS) ).

This composite Massey rankings page that averages between the various rankings that has Iowa at #18 now, one notch behind Michigan State and one notch ahead of Michigan.

I think it's funny, regardless. They thought they were having their best year ever, and that Iowa was going nowhere this year. One day later, and we have "sidled" right up next to them. :p
