Is Iowa ranked tomorrow?

I'm thinking no, not many top 25 teams have lost so far .

Sportswriters and coaches debate. Iowa defense is voted into the top 25 in a rare move and they split the ranking with the new 36-pack of Keystone Light. 23rd or so. They can't have Bucky visit an undefeated, unranked Iowa.

How many recruits do you think we’ll bring in with that #23 ranking in week 3?

The rankings matter at some point, but it’s well sorted out once that point is reached.
The point, which I shouldn’t have to explain, is that being ranked throughout this season adds to program relevance which will only help recruiting.

My point, which I shouldn’t have to explain, is we will be ranked when we’re ranked. It doesn’t matter in week 2. In fact, being prematurely ranked only opens the program up to looking stupid. If it’s this week, next week or after Wisconsin - we’ll get there.

This stuff works itself out. I believe we’re a top 25 team if we can figure out offense.

Wrong. Teams around us are playing someone
you the man! tell us all how great the other teams around us (Iowa) are playing someone? Are they winning? are they playing FCS and barely winning? What greatness is happening there?

This is largely wrong. Exposure throughout the year is only good for the program, the more the better, starting as soon as possible. Absolutely no down side.

No down side I generally agree (although being overrated is not a good thing).

It’s not that I don’t care about being ranked or that I don’t get excited by cracking the top 25. I just think some worry and invest to much in the week to week rankings. It matters, but it doesn’t deserve the attention fans give to it.

If you play the season forward and we finish with 7 or 8 wins nobody is going to remember we were ranked in week 2.

And if go to the Rose Bowl it won’t matter if we crack the top 25 in week 2, 3 or 4.

Florida and South Carolina are out, but I'm not sure USC drops out. MSU might lose tonight and would probably drop out. I'm saying Oregon and Kentucky move in those two open spots.

Duke is ahead of us too and I'm not sure how much there is to argue that winning @ NW isn't on pretty equal footing with beating ISU at home. A&M really shouldn't lose any votes either. So bottom line is I think we wind up around 27 or 28.

You usually have to beat someone first. 2-0 with our non conference never means anything
Ah once again with your anti hawk retoric. Please tell me how many teams in the top 25 have two wins over teams as good as ISU and NIU?

Wrong right back at you. So your saying that taking both opponents into account that the majority of the top 25 have played two teams better then ISU, and NIU? Bull............

I don't think we've shown enough to be ranked. Not really a concern either. We might get a ranking after UNI but beating Wisconsin would really earn a legit. ranking assuming we've beaten UNI.

Recruits don't want to play on a little stage. if Iowa had any votes last week.....those votes should surely be lost this week.

Really? Like who? Alabama? Wisconsin? Ohio State? Yeah, besides a couple teams, the majority of the top 25 have been playing the who's who of insignificant teams. And you do realize that Iowa played a top ten tough schedule last year, right? Of course you didn't......[/QUOte/]

It's 'this' year.
