A couple of their all time wins.

Here they were up 12 with 36 seconds to go in the game. No way they could lose.

Until the did.

My memory is a bit hazy because I didn't see the game, but didn't they beat 3 seed Missouri in the 1990 tourney on a last second 3? Then lose to Minnesota in a similar fashion?

They did in fact beat #3 MO as a #14 seed by a last second 3 ball by Maurice Newby. UNI was ahead almost the entirety of the game until MO tied the game with about 15 seconds if memory serves.

I don’t remember the next game with MN as a last second shot but UNI only lost by 3 points so you may be right.

That A&M choke job may never be matched in the tournament. What I always forget is they actually scored in those 40 seconds. They gave up 14 points in 40 seconds. Unreal.
that's why when Iowa lost a 7 point lead with 44 (or so) seconds to go at Minnesota, I replied w/ the comment that shit happens in sports. At least our season did not end in Minnesota.

In the NCAA Tournament, when you lose the way UNI did in that game and when you lose a buzzer beater to 14 seed Northwestern State, you NEVER forget as a fan of the losing team.

And that's one reason why Iowa fan's always ask, "does it EVER NOT go in???"

They beat Missouri at buzzer. Minnesota was a very good game but not a buzzer beater. If I remember correctly UNI had a couple calls go against them. I have both games on VHS somewhere.
