Is there any way to get the parties out of politics?

My primary election is tomorrow. I get to vote for Rick Scott against some GOP challengers, some local races, but for the first time ever, they're asking me to vote for GOP Party Committeepersons.

WTF is THAT? Why should the taxpayers pay to elect party bigwigs? Hold that damn election on your own dime at the Hilton or something.
