Seems like everyone here only cares about college football.

Reminds me of a few years ago when Villanova played Clemson and all the Clemson fans would talk about was NASCAR and college football.

Look, I am sure your football team can beat Rutgers. That's great. We don't care. Let's talk basketball. Your football team is not better than my football team (New England Patriots)

Your football team? What makes them your team? Because there is nothing of interest in the fall besides pro ball in the North Least? I think so. I did two tours of duty in the north least and you have pro sports, high priced crappy housing and millions of people with a crap attitude. Thanks for sharing dolt

My football team is the New England Patriots because I was born in New England and that's who I grew up rooting for. And they would kick the crap out of the Iowa Cyclones.

So anyway, now that I have established that I am the superior football fan to you Cyclone fans, does anybody want to talk basketball?

Oh and I am glad you got to check out the NorthLeast a little bit. Sorry it was too sophisticated for you and that the houses were too expensive. I am sure Iowa is a much better fit for you. You a wrestling fan?

We really don't have a lot of time for Basketball season, It's the time of year we have to work the fields and harvest the Potato crop.

.... and cook meth

Hey, at least you are honest. I appreciate that.

Greezeball... You are a dime a dozen but at least you make good doorstops and have great leather jackets..real sophisticated.

Oh, we have plenty of greezeballs up here. I'm Irish though, so I don't think I fall in the leather jacket greezy hair grouping.

I would comment on the doorstop line, but I have to confess I have no idea what that means.

Anyway, like I said, I am glad you got to leave the corn fields and check out civilization a bit. Unfortunately you weren't able to handle it and had to go back to the cornfields. Too expensive for you, too sophisticated for you, I understand. But you gave it a shot, and that's what matters.
Now back to your meth pipe.

I told my Dad we should have cooked Meth on the farm, He was afraid the barn might catch fire and destroy our herd of dairy buffalo.

Clearly you have that entrepreneurial spirit that will take you far in life. Your dad on the other hand is an idiot and needs to get with the times. You can tell him I sad that.

North least basketball. Home of college basketball fixing. Great traditions up there!!!! Oh and without my buddy Larry Bird you would be short of a few banners but it was nice when you guys decided it would be ok if black athletes could actually live in your neighborhoods..... As long as they had a good shot.

Now, Now, My Dad got killed running a load of moonshine down to River City to deliver to professor Harold Hill.

uhhhhhhh, is somebody from Iowa talking about lack of diversity somewhere else?

When you guys go to Brooklyn for the games this weekend will you be looking at the minorities as though they are tourist attractions?

Or are none of you going to the games because you only care about going to the outback bowl or whatever bowl it is your football team plays in.

Ah but you just stepped in it greezer. I am NOT from Iowa you doorstop. Get another pack of smokes and a gold chain.

Apparently nobody cares about basketball in general on this board. It's all college football, doorstops, and meth talk around here.

If you don't want to talk college hoops, why are you on the Iowa college basketball board? What am I missing?

OMG. This is getting embarrassing guys. This guy, unlike the one troll, seems to be interested in an actual discussion on basketball. And here we are stuck in an inane pissing match for the purpose of reinforcing stereotypes of Iowa that are old, stale, and lame. Plus, I don't think he is picking up on the sarcasm. Crazy, I know.

Packer54, I'm not sure what you mean by the Larry Bird comment. The Celtics have 17 banners. Larry Bird won 3. Bill Russell, on the other hand, has 11 rings. And as you can probably tell from my avatar, I'm a Celtics fan. You are right, though about the New England bigotry. Bill Russell could tell you all about that. In all seriousness, it is rather odd that an area known for a bastion of liberalism also has a long track record of bigotry almost comparable to folks south of the Mason/Dixon line.

Anyhoo, as023, assuming there is a game between Nova and Iowa, what's your take? You do realize Iowa basketball is currently on life support, right? That probably has a lot to do with Iowa fans not too antsy to talk hoops right now. The mood of this board has been pretty sour for a couple weeks now. Just a friendly fyi.

You are missing a brain, any sense of being socially acceptable, two ex wives and most likely your leather jacket.

We are HAWKEYE fans dumbass.

Go to your own site.

You are ruining a great site to talk Iowa Hoops. No one wants to talk about Vanillanova or whatever crappy school you represent. We do not need your point of view.

If we both win Friday, then come back.

My take is that if Iowa shoots well, they can beat anybody.
I don't know what the cause of the iowa collapse is. Nobody here seems willing to talk about the basketball team, so it is tough to figure out.
I like the draw against Iowa because I think nova does a good job guarding the perimeter and if they can hold your shooters in check are athletic on the boards and can grab rebounds.

My fears for the game include:
- Lots of wide open threes with our guys lunging at your shooters to no avail.
- Over committing on the perimeter and you guys finding back door and post guys who have slipped their defenders
- Nova settling for too many threes and missing them

My hopes are:
- Turnovers leading to transition points for nova
- Misses leading to long rebounds for nova
- Athletic guards on Nova breaking down defenders and finding open kicks, that the kids actually hit.

And to those who keep telling me to go away and come back Sunday, we play some 15 seed that has no message board or fans on Friday. We go back and forth with Temple fans all year. If you don't want to talk about basketball, fine, but stop bragging about your football team that I honestly did not know was good or bad prior today (I just knew you played Rutgers)

It is a mystery to everyone, as far as Iowa's collapse is concerned. This same type of collapse occurred two years ago in 2014. Again, we are all at a loss. Iowa is a senior-laden team (4 seniors, 1 junior starting) and all have a ton of experience.

The only thing I can think of is that B1G teams started to figure out that if they get physical with Iowa they can get Iowa to fold. In short, Iowa's intestinal fortitude is in question.

It will be interesting to see how teams play Iowa in the tournament. The B1G for years has obviously had a reputation as a tough, physical conference, and rightfully so. When Iowa is at their best, they play fast, uptempo and generate a lot of transition buckets and 3s. Prior to the collapse, they were also playing good defense.

If Iowa can get their act together, they are a dangerous team. If the team that beat Purdue and Michigan State twice and blew out Marquette on the road in non-conference season shows up, look out. If you thought Nova had problems with Seton Hall, well, as BTO famously sang, "You ain't seen nuthin' yet."

In a nutshell as far as Iowa basketball this year, If we shoot well and play like in January we can beat any team in the field on any given day. If we play like we have the last month we are fully capable of losing to almost any team in the field. We hope some how magically the light will go back on for the team, The reality is that from what we have seen lately the chances of getting "hot" again is not likely, But hey, It's not impossible for it to happen.
As far as not wanting to talk basketball, Look at the forum pages from the last month, Everyone has had an opinion on what has gone wrong, There just really isn't much new to discuss, In my view in regard to the NCAA and our possible opponents, It really doesn't matter who it is, It's all about Iowa's team getting their act together and playing good ball again and shooting the ball with confidence. It's not so much about match ups and who can exploit what in regard to the opponent right now, It's about the 6" between the ears of the Iowa players.

Nova had a weird collapse in 2010 that led to a total collapse in 2011. The 2010 team was ranked #2 and then fell apart. But they kept a 2 seed. Needed OT to beat Robert Morris and then lost a tight one against St. Mary's. Then in 2011 they were top 25 and became the first tourney team ever to be selected losing their final 6. They then lost on the final shot to George mason. And these were senior led teams coming off the Final Four run. Most attributed it to some chemistry issues, kids in the locerk room weren't getting along.

I don't know if that is Iowa's deal. What scares me is if it is just a matter of Big ten teams figuring out Iowa, but that they are actually pretty good and once they get out of their conference can do damage.

Nova is a pretty physical team. And they are excellent in transition. One of the hopes would be that we could turn Iowa over or beat them in a running game.

But then there are the thoughts of that Doug McDermott Creighton team dominating Nova twice in the 2014 season that always creep into my head when thinking about this Iowa team.

Anything is possible. If Iowa doesn't move on to the Sweet 16 and Nova does, I wish Nova the best of luck in the tournament. Good night and take care.

Btw, I think Iowa has a relative of Rollie Massimino on staff. I swear I heard that from someone. Can anyone help me out on that?
