Isaiah Johnson-Arigu in the Portal

There.... Ol' Doodle fixed it for you.

Let's just go ahead and abandon the utterly absurd pretense that any of this has ANYTHING whatsoever to do with "school."
Well it certainly does to the effect that he'd be playing on the Universities court, and wearing a jersey that says Iowa on it. And for that matter if he'd get paid its ONLY because he would be playing for one school or another, so YES the schools are involved. Or do you think they're going to start paying these kids on the street corner playing backtop pickup games? The schools are involved, and they are culpable in this mess..

Difference is the coaches have contracts that have to be bought out if they leave. Players don’t. That’s the problem with the system right now.
What was Ben's buyout?

And if players had buyouts it wouldn't matter. The rich programs would pay it no problem. Don't act like it's different. Players go where the money and better opportunities are, just like coaches do. Fans just want to hate on players.

That happens a lot but his big mouth helped get us to where we are
Good. The NCAA and the institutions made their own bed so now they can pull back the sheets and sleep in it.

Changes will be made, but the players will still be getting paid. The shield of amateurism they hid behind for so long is gone, and it ain't coming back. Time to get over it.

You took Doodle's point backwards. It's not that the schools aren't involved in the players, it's that the players couldn't care less about the "school" part of the equation. And the institutions, sadly, appear to be a-ok with this.

None of these players are changing due to the new institution(s) offering a better fit for their major and immediately enrolling and immersing themselves in the most rigorous degree-centric coursework available. The admissions and academic counseling offices certainly aren't their first (or probably even eighth) stop on the first days on the new campus(es).

To paraphrase Cardale 'The Prophet' Jones: Why should they even have to go to class if they came there to play sports? They ain't come to play school. Classes are pointless.

Well maybe if I type slower you'll see what I said. I'm not mad at THIS kid. Hell, I could care less, he's never even worn an actual Iowa uniform. No biggie if he goes, whatever. Its the damn system thats allowing this nonsense, which is what I just said in the post you commented about.....
I'll type slowly for you now. I didn't quote your post. Posts above yours and maybe after yours criticized the kid and I simply said, he is not the bad guy here. The system is broken and will be the end of college athletics, agree?

He was recruited by Fran who left. Mac plays a totally different style of ball. Should he be forced to stay? Let him go.

Read the thread, somehow ppl are mad at the kid. I totally agree and have said on these pages, the system is completely unsustainable and will bring about the end of college athletics. You want to be mad at someone, JBO comes to mind

Brad/SWARM can't get NFL players to donate (and I don't blame them). And will the rich Iowa boosters want to be blowing all their cash annually on these players? After the Proctor fiasco, we are lucky that boosters didn't say "screw this" and walk away. We don't have a sugar daddy who has money to throw away.

I don't know how you change things, either. The Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that there's no limits to what players can get paid. That high school QB going to Michigan is getting $3M/year (up to $10M total). The whole thing is nuts.

The new Marcellus Sommerville - 4 star guy who sat on the bench at Iowa but never set foot in a game.
This is always a what if for me if he’d have stayed. Could you imagine Horner and bru’s senior years with him on the team. Guy was great that year leading Bradley to sweet 16 and avg 15+ every year he was there. Guess he didn’t along with Alford, shocker.

To be fair with Johnson-arigu what are the odds both of his coaches don’t last more than 3 months while he’s there with each school. Hopefully he looks for a school and coach with little more job stability on his 3rd try.
