Isaiah White commits to

no kidding, thought he was going to be an Illini. Assuming his academics are in order, What does he project at?

Edit, not saying you are wrong but I dont see a thing from any wrestling media on twitter yet? But I do see the Cavs fired their coach.

Has the potential to be as good as anyone in this class. When he is focused, he is scary good

White chose Ohio State over Nebraska and Minnesota.

Where the hell is Illinois??? They have all these super talented kids that leave. Thought Perry was a super recruiter??

How crazy good is 157 or165 potentially going to be in a year or two?. Possibly IMAR, Nolf, JoJo, Marinelli, Mark Hall, White, Joseph, Jordan? 165 could shape up with a lot of those names.

Obviously some guys will change weights but you get the point. Silly good guys around that weight classes coming to a theatre near you. Now for the day dream. What if Marinelli emerges over all those names.

Minny seems like they're heading for life support. JRob has been great for wrestling an Minny for so many years, but do you think it's time for him to step down? Think if they could pull in Burroughs, DT, Dake or someone very high profile as an ass't coach, paving the way for head coach....the way Kurdelmeier brought in Gable or Douglas hired Cael.

You're baiting me... right? Nope, nope, not going to do it!

Not at all. Serious question, and not meant to be disrespectful of JRob, who I think has been terrific for collegiate wrestling.

Also Logan Massa, possibly 2 Jordan's both Bo and Isaac, and maybe Anthony Valencia. And thats not even mentioning Chance Marstellar who can still be pretty dang good if he gets his head on straight and goes 165

Like Joe Paterno in his later years. Stuck around too long. It's hurting the program.

It's no secret... well, apparently it is to PapaBear, that the Gopher wrestling program is in dire straits. They have been losing the top in-State kids for several years now. Some of their higher profile kids have left for the Dakota schools, and they've also lost some excellent assts in recent years. The topping on the cake was last year's collapse at Nationals.

Many of their best results have come when their studs were underclassmen. Many have regressed as they got older. High schools stars and their parents notice these things. Hence the vast export of talent from Minnesota to other schools around the country.

J was great for the program. If Eggum gets the HC job, they are a mid tier team for the forseeable future. Tough being a Gopher fan these days. Their fired AD is a criminal. Their football and MBB teams are a mess. Wrestling team has possibly 1-2 potential AAs this year, at best!

Be glad you're not a Gopher fan.

Thought White was headed to Minne to be with his OPRF buddy. Minne recruiting is going downhill.

If White wanted to attend MN he would have had to attend a JUCO and transfer in. TOSU got him in, can't blame him for making that choice. Wish him the best in college.

Pfarr, Kroells and Thorn all with legit AA possibilities this season.

The Hwt is a stretch to AA. Thorn has a chance but he's really going to need some favorable draws. I think the way the careers of the Dardanes ended sealed Minny's fate with White. Make all the excuses about academics that you want.

Kroells AA'd last season in a much deeper field. Never say never. Draws do play a big role for some guys.

Not saying White would have chose theGophers had he been admitted to the U, just stating the reality that he was wasn't.

Also, None of this was meant as a disrespect to White as Minnesota is surprisingly difficult to get accepted for a state school. As I said I wish him well. Love those OPRF guys!!

Minny will be fine In couple of years. McKee, Lizak, Thorn, Short, Stroker, Early, Webster, Jeske, Marko, Stevenson will be a good roster.

OSU and Penn State are the Big Tens version of the SEC.

Considering Ohio State is considerably higher rated than Minnesota is with a higher average ACT I highly doubt this is true. tOSU had the 3rd highest ACT average in the B1G for the university's freshman class with a 29 avg that put them behind only Northwestern and Michigan in the conference.

Can't speak for what happens at tOSU. However, I can conclude that one person won't skewe the the average of 15,000 people too much.

You missed the point, If Minnesota were harder to get into their test scores wouldn't be lower, and they would be ranked higher, a fact that is magnified by having 10,000 less students, whether you want to admit it or not it's simple math (the more students you have, the harder it is to have a higher avg). The fact Minnesota takes guys like Jeff Jones makes your assertion that White couldn't get in there and would of had to go juco to do so BS. He was almost a partial qualifier and still got in, and Minnesota officials stated he STILL would of got in as a partial qualifier, whoever is feeding you this info is full of it.

"But Jones fell short of qualifying academically out of high school. Raised by his grandparents because of hardships at home with his parents, he was granted an initial eligibility waiver from the NCAA. This allowed him to use his scholarship and attend Minnesota, though he was academically ineligible at first."

Football and wrestling are not equals. This is silly to even be comparing. Doubt my info if you wish. I posted in response to those talking about how Dardanes and MN's poor recruiting kept White away. White liked Minnesota. White liked Ohio State. White is committed to Ohio State so the other stuff doesn't really matter.

Looking at both of the following websites they BOTH have average ACT scores of 28. tOSU's 25%(meaning highest score of their lowest 25%) is 27 while their 75%(lowest score of their top 25%)is 31. Minnesota's is 26 and 30. Two very telling points are it clearly states tOSU has no formal requirements and only states that it is likely that Minnesota does not. Also tOSU had higher scores in both categories but still had the same average. Without seeing all the data I can't be certain, but it would lead one to believe their lower 25% has a much lower average that brings that number down a bit. In another words, the AVERAGE person has a very hard time getting into tOSU but Athletes "could" and I emphasize could gain entry much, much easier. This could obviously be the same at Minnesota but the site didn't make as clear a statement on their lack of a mandatory ACT requirement.....

One thing that is telling though is MSU has fallen way behind. When I was there our ACT scores were competitive within the Conference. However, since 2001 the average B1G ACT score has improved 2.5 points. At MSU it has only improved 1pt. The only school MSU is currently ahead of is Nebraska.....................

You would be right if that lineup ever sees the mat together. But given the Gopher recent history... there's no way in hell that group wrestles as a unit. Look at the last decade if you think I'm full of shit!

For conversation... Minny fans are already on record as saying Short/Stroker/Early will be competing for TWO spots. Somebody is sitting and will leave the program. Early is a lot of muscle away from making 165 to ease that scenario. Short isn't dropping down and taking Thorn's spot.

I also think the Illinois connection is about to end for Minny with the "crash and burn" we saw with the DardanesX2.

They(Gopher fans) are generally a sunshine pumping fan base. This season is a sign of the future.

Kingsley is also back at 157 so there is a log jam at 149 and 157 so it looks like two will sit. IMO Stroker is too small for 157 and Early to small for 165. What say PBS? Could they transfer?

The new blood will end up being the starters next season....

Except Short is a legacy recruit, which seems important up North. Thorn, Short, and Morgan are all in that category. Time will tell.

Stroker has reportedly surpassed Short in the room. I would guess Fredy is 149 and Short moves up to 157 and best man takes spot.
