ISU 2nd worst team in P5

Lol. Can't argue with that. I'm just hoping by the time I'm back home from Iowa City this weekend this thread isn't on Page 10.

Well it would seem CyTwins (CyCity) got banned, so we should be safe so long as our class clown (Herkyfan) doesn't show up and start talking to himself.

I'd go play at a good school every other year.
UNI could come to IC every year and play .....like the other crappy schools do :)
I guess we'll see in a few hours, but I bet UNI would give us as much a game as miami. Maybe I'm wrong?
I agree, a good OOC game to open up would give us a nice stage to extend our brand. A loss this early in the season wouldnt even doom us if we won the BiG.

It's really pretty amazing/amusing how often this same thread occurs. And --shockeroo! -- the same arguments are posted.
Well if ISU wouldn't keep being the 2nd worst team in Power 5 football, maybe this thread wouldn't keep popping up...

Agreed, the big ten west is winnable every year. No great programs so it will always be a possibility.

Nothing to lose by playing s big boy.

I bet if we did not have clown fans on this board spouting off about their great team all the time, most of these clown threads would be non-existent.

USA Today has ISU as the second worst team of all the P5 teams. And yet this is our marquee out of conference game. Will someone with more pull or money than me get this game off our schedule. Nice we give ISU a sellout every other year and give them pub in the paper and radio but this is a joke and a lost leader for the Hawks.
If the team is such a joke, just beat them. Many other schools in their conference do it like clockwork. I understand there's emotion, but that should be good for them to eeck out a game now and then, not 50% of the time. Regarding selling out their stadium, ISU will be returning the favor back to you. It appears a historic undefeated regular season run was not enough for you to do it.

ISU is 3-3 vs UNI since 2007. They lost to NDSU recently as well? Does ISu even have a .500 record vs. FCS teams in the past 10 years?

You missed the boat on what this thread is about. A second boat will arrive in a few hours, if you miss that one there will be no refunds and you can take a nice swim back to irrelevance C.U.L.8.ER.

When Creighton gets a football team you should play them yearly.

41-22 50% of the time?

Thanks Captain. That is the whole point. Nothing to gain all to lose for Iowa. I know that guy is still living in the Lawrence Phillips era but the "Big Red" has plenty to worry about besides Iowa-ISU.

Nebraska lost to Iowa State three times last decade before joining the B1G, so I don't think you have that much room to talk. As we've established many times before, Iowa State amassed a 5 game winning steak during a time Iowa State was peaking as a program and Iowa was rebuilding. In 2001, Iowa and Iowa State were pretty evenly matched with Iowa State squeaking out a 3 point win. 2002, I don't know what so say, one of the flukiest games I've ever seen.

Anyway, since that time, Iowa has won 8/13 against Iowa State. Not great, but a far cry from batting .500, which is the picture you're trying to paint.

This game barely registers on the FB radar out side of the mid west. Will ESPN bring it up if Iowa loses? of course, but only for the same reasons they glossed over Miss St lose to Southern Alabama this last weekend. One of the biggest statistical upsets in the last decade and they spent most of their time jerking off Western Michigan. If Iowa loses its more about state bragging rights and UNI will have the Trump card

This thread is a no win argument!! Onto next thread. Only us smart ones will understand!!

Come on guys Give this guy a break. He can't brag about his teams performance or doing anything of late so all they have is attendance to boast about. But if any consolation to the mr husker dousche worried about our attendance Michigan is sold out and Wisconsin and ndsu close to it.

No CaHawk - it won't be glossed. Miss St was picked last in their division. And all the pundits rip our schedule as a favorite in our division. Come on dude. U don't think Cowherd and the rest won't pile on if we lose. And if we only win by 10 same deal. Guys why don't u get it?

I think that because you represent an irrelevant, dumpster fire program, we should be taking your advice very seriously.

Even if you did sack the ISU game, I'm not convinced you'd schedule anyone better. It's not the Iowa way.

Maybe not. We did have the Missouri deal they bailed on and the Arizona schools semi-recently. My point is I would much rather play a team outside of the State of Iowa in a Power 5 conference for exposure and recruiting purposes. This is ISU's Super Bowl and we get absolutely zero out of the game even if we win. Maybe it is just me, but all I do after we win against ISU is breathe a sigh of relief. There is no joy whatsoever. I know it won't happen but why does any objective Hawk fan think this game is good for us? I simply don't get it.

Which of the following would you suggest are worse than isu: Nebraska, Kansas State, Arizona State, Syracuse, Arizona and/or Pittsburgh?

Iowa has and could do much better in having the ability to select other opponents from Power 5 competition if isu were not guaranteed a spot on the schedule.

All of the schools you mentioned are better than Iowa State. Was that a serious question?

You're right in that Iowa could do a better job of scheduling tougher competition. They just haven't lately. That's the rub on them nationally. Hell, my local sports talk show here (norcal) just ripped them about a week ago for having a weak schedule. It's just their way.

Absolutely.

Depending on your definition of lately, Iowa has scheduled every one of those teams, several on multiple occasions, since Kirk Ferentz was named the head coach.

I place about as much credence in talk shows as I do their being a man in the moon. If you are any type of serious fan, you surely know that the overwhelming majority of what they say is solely to elicit a response and not because it is based in fact. Chances are your favorite talk show actually knows very little about the Hawkeyes and either heard someone else say or saw someone else write that Iowa's schedule was 'weak' and found it very east to jump right on the bandwagon.

I'm convinced that you know just as little as they do because you know nothing about Iowa's "way". Thanks for playing though.

Lol... well I don't have 9 thousand posts on an internet message board, so clearly I'm not the expert analyst you carry yourself to be.
