"Iowa State running back signee Sheldon Croney suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his left hand on Tuesday, according to Bakersfield (Calif.) Police Department sergeant Joe Grubbs.

Croney and “a juvenile friend” found a handgun that belonged to the friend’s father at a Bakersfield residence, according to a police department press release. Croney accidentally shot himself, according to the report."
