Now, that said, I do think they have a decent chance. Don't oversell Nevada. Sure, they could upset the clowns, anything could happen. But I think ISUck cruises. Purdue doesn't convince me, either. ISUck won't be afraid to take on Kansas in KC. In fact, they probably dream of that. Then they're just one win away. I think Louisville would be ISUck's biggest threat and they'd be the last obstacle.

What happened to ISU in the past has no bearing on what this year's team does. Different coach, different players. And they haven't been a 5 seed in the last 20 years, only time was 1996 (2nd round loss to Utah).

However, when 12s fairly regularly beat 5s, pattern. 12s have won at the same % as 11s, just under 36%. That means right at 3 12s every 2 years win. There has only been two 5 seed sweeps this century, 2007 and 2015. And 5s have lost in the 1st round about 7 times as often as they have made the FF, 46 1st round losses, 6 FFs. Thus, I'd take them to lose 1st round way before I'd take them to make the FF.

To be fair, I'd pick any 5 seed to lose 1st round before I'd pick them to make FF.

Purdue is a bad match up for them inside but based on geography ISU pulled a great draw to make it their own environment. Half their team is from Milwaukee area and obviously they travel well to Kansas City... They've got a real opportunity this year

I think they could make a nice run. They are a senior laden team with a good coach and they are on a roll. Good luck to them.
