Don't worry. After ensuring the Buffalo Bills lost four straight Super Bowls, ensuring Iowa State never wins a national championship is a piece of cake :)

I would be willing to bet iowa doesn’t either.

For either of them to pull it off they would need a heisman level QB like Watson from Clemson. Somebody that can do it all offensively.

A quality defense and a lot of luck.

Got a new sign-in name so you could start a thread like this? Doesn't look like trolling at all.

And we all know that kind of offensive player is never coming to Iowa, so safe to say there are no NC in your future either.

Ya, ya think? lol Unless you are an Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas, Notre Dame, USC, Nebraska, Etc, and recruit like them, you're not going to win the NC. 13 teams have won the NC in the last 25 years.

Ya, Brad Banks was a good, but not great QB. Without that great O-Line (Gallery et all), TE (Clark), RB, you wouldn't be talking about Banks and don't forget, he wasn't drafted by the NFL.
I'm gonna say this just to instigate a reply out of you.......

Seneca Wallace was also an average QB......and he was the best ISU has ever had.

Never say never. Iowa likely won't either. Some of you Hawk fans need to grow a pair. Kudos to the Clones.

Ya, c'mon Evil Monkey :) I remember hawkeye faithful saying at the time, "You know how good we would be if we had Seneca"? And Seneca in the NFL for 10 years.

Brad Banks was good, no argument, just not great. Your O-Line and TE's though, they were was great!

What Iowa State team in your lifetime has been remotely close to a title? Ask that question to any Hawkeye fan and see which program will win one of the two.
I know that wasn't your point but Iowa is a recognized brand nationally. You see a Cyclone hat in Florida, New York, California, Arizona, Washington and people ask Springfield Cyclones? DOH!

Funny, I don't recall hearing any Hawk fans say that. You are delusional.

Brad Banks only "good"? Heisman runnerup (coming out of NOWHERE). I can categorically state you would be hard pressed to find ANY Hawk fan would take Wallace over Banks.

How many Heisman winners (or even runnerups) has ISU had? I think we all know the answer to that.

Ya, he was a good QB, and had a great supporting cast. Great running game, play-action passes to wide-open receivers. But, he wasn't even drafted by the NFL. Heisman trophy is really a team award in college, many winners don't pan out in the NFL (Manziel, Tebow, Wuerful, Dayne, Etc)

Troy Davis was a runner-up, first RB to ever rush for over 2000 yards 2 years in a row when defenses were keying on him.

I never ever ever would have said that.

Actually, if Wallace had been playing for Iowa he would not have been at ISU. Iowa would have beaten ISU easily in Kinnick and gone on to win a national championship with Wallace winning the Heisman. :)

I can't speak for others, but I never said that, or heard it. And I was at Iowa at the time.

Iowa already has.

According to the two main polling services, the AP and Coaches poll....Iowa has never won a national championship. In 1958, that honor in both polling services went to LSU. Heck, Iowa lost a late season game to Ohio State and tied the Air Force....LSU went 11-0 in contrast.

And spare me any baloney about the Grantland Rice award.

Those polls were taken before the bowl games.

I suggest you take a visit to NCAA.com (I am on my iPad and can’t post a link) and check out the list of football national champions. Check out who is listed for 1958 and come back to eat some crow.

I’ve always wondered why Iowa never had its National Championships placed on the stadium. Good for ISU having a great year. When was he last time Iowa beat two top 5 teams in the same year?

If Iowa and Iowa State combined rosters, they would have a shot. Neither team will be able to recruit enough high quality players. Player development plus top level talent tops player development and average talent.

I doubt it. Iowa's problem in 2002 was defending the pass. Most Big 10 teams couldn't exploit that but it was exposed in the bowl game as well as against Iowa State.

You might want to turn up your sarcasm meter.

I was so curious about what delusional things the clowns were saying about their team that I bought a subscription to their rivals site so I could read up on this. There were many posts that I found completely nonsensical like the ones about how they can get into the CFP through the backdoor which is what I expected. What surprised me is the many more posts I read about how Iowa beating tOSU would help their team, but they just couldn't bring themselves to root for us and would rather see Iowa pantsed than have Iowa's help by winning Saturday. By contrast we have posts that express our hatred for them, but still have folks who genuinely wish Iowa State well citing how it is good for our state. I saw no evidence of this type of sentiment on their site. What this says to me loud and clear is that no matter how many games they win this season, no matter how confident they are in their team ISU fans will always have their little brother complex. We have just laid waste to their program too many times for them to ever forget. I really hope they win every game the rest of year. That way when they are left out of the playoff the media will cite again and again about how they lost to us, and the way they lost to us that is the reason they are not there.

I didn’t see posts like that on the Rivals board. I don’t think anybody thinks there’s any way in hell ISU could make the playoff. Two home losses to so-so teams

There was definitely discussion about how if Iowa could give OSU its second loss, and Wisconsin its first loss then OSU beat Wisconsin in the B1G championship then the BIG 12 champ presumably ISU would take the B1G spot in the CFP. Then what followed was everyone saying how they'd rather see OSU throttle Iowa than be helped by an Iowa victory. Then there was debate over whether it would be better to have Iowa get throttled or have their hearts broken Pedo State style. I think the thread where this was most mentioned was Hawk Fan Turmoil or something like that.

Maybe the guy who speculated about ISU is on my ignore list. Hell, the committee wouldn’t take a 1-loss Oklahoma team over a 1-loss tOSU team, let alone take a 2-loss ISU team. In any case, ISU isn’t going to win out, and the dumbass conference has a “championsip game” this year, which is insane unless the goal is to endure no team will make the playoff.

To my knowledge, never. They did beat three top ten teams in 81. Beat 7 ranked teams in 60.
