It’s interesting how at the end…

Trump is the worst President America has ever had. Never before have we had a President who is a convicted felon, accused rapist, twice impeached, in court for numerous other offenses, and has already lost a Presidential election (to Joe Biden).

Most folks who criticize Carter weren't around when he was president, and thus, hold no credibility.

Not a single shot fired during his administration. His was the last administration to say that.

He also got Egypt and Israel to sign a peace treaty which is still in place today.
Fiscally more conservative than most other presidents in terms of spending.
Created a national energy policy when none existed prior.
Panama Canal treaties.

He was wrongly criticized for an oil shortage, but that's was on OPEC.

What's probably more impressive is the humanitarian work he did AFTER he was president.

Inflation hitting 22% at its peak, 7% unemployment rate, recession in first 7 months of 1980 pretty much sank Jimmy. The failed hostage rescue attempt didn’t help either…

Agreed. He wasn't perfect.

Government spending in Vietnam, frozen interest rates throughout the 70s and OPEC turning into an energy cartel all played into both high inflation and unemployment. And while not directly Carter's fault or within his control, he was wearing the hat at the time.

The four worst presidents, and it isn't even close, are James Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, Warren Harding, and Donald Trump. As soon as Trump is sworn in on January 20th he alone will become the worst president ever by default based on the fact he will be the first convicted felon ever to become president.

Biden and Obama were far worse and it's not even close

Eerily similar resume of failure to Biden tbh but Biden also blew it in Afghanistan.

Not really. Economy was far worse in 1980
You think so? What would CPI have been under biden had they not restructured the calculation to artificially reduce the reported figure vs during carter? Average price increases since biden took office are over 22% actual.

Afghanistan was still a career ending flub on its own

The economy in 1980 was far worse than 2024. No question IMO.

Afghanistan withdrawal was a shit show.

Yeah, this. Had he gone to Israel with a request for the Massad to take care of it, they would probably have been successful and he might have survived to a second term.

trump is inheriting a pristine economy by nearly every single metric.

And he'll likely drive it into another recession just like last time.

Carter didn’t have a $2 trillion annual deficit.
If operating with a deficit bothered you, you'd be against tax cuts.

Since trump is for tax cuts, and you're a sheep, you're in favor of them too.

That makes you sofa king dumb.

You should also be aware that our budget deficit was largest, and grew exponentially, under #45.

GTS.

I know. Cultists will be cultists (and ignore those pesky gdp numbers)
If you want to have a serious conversation about the economy, I'm happy to debate any economical metric you'd like to discuss. If you want to keep up with the name calling, then kindly eat a dick.

Besides, I'm obviously more of an elitist than a cultist.

Keep telling yourself that, cultist. Just make sure not to look at that gdp data in 2022 😂

A cult is generally defined as a group or movement that exhibits certain distinct characteristics, often centered around religious, spiritual, or ideological beliefs. These groups typically exhibit the following traits:

Excessive Devotion to a Leader or Ideology: ✔️
Members show extreme loyalty or reverence to a charismatic leader or the group’s core beliefs.
Control and Manipulation: ✔️
The leadership exerts significant control over members' lives, often dictating their behavior, thoughts, and emotions.
Us vs. Them Mentality: ✔️
Cults frequently portray themselves as the sole possessors of truth while viewing outsiders as misguided or even hostile.
Exploitation: ✔️
Members may be subjected to financial, physical, or psychological exploitation, often justified as necessary for the group's goals.
Rigid Rules and Dogma: ✔️
The group typically enforces strict adherence to its doctrines and punishes dissent or questioning of authority.

I think it's pretty obvious who's in a fvcking cult. Damn, I miss Dubya. I'd rather invade Iraq again than watch the grifter-in-chief con the retards at the expense of those of us with half a brain cell.

What are your thoughts on the gdp data from the first half of 2022?

Are you deflecting or do you really care about a COVID recovery year that would have fooooked any president. Why not ask where we are today?

As of January 2025, the U.S. economy has demonstrated robust growth throughout 2024. In the third quarter, real GDP increased at an annual rate of 3.1%, driven by strong consumer spending, exports, business investment, and federal government spending.

Looking ahead, projections for the fourth quarter of 2024 suggest continued economic strength. The real GDP growth forecast for Q4 2024 has been revised to 2.0%, up from a previous estimate of 0.9%. This adjustment reflects persistent evidence of strong consumer spending in October, despite challenges such as hurricanes impacting large swaths of the U.S., and robust holiday sales, with "Black Friday" and "Cyber Monday" sales reportedly reaching record highs.

Overall, the U.S. economy is expected to end 2024 on a strong note, with GDP growth projected to be 2.6% for the year. This performance is attributed to resilient consumer spending and a steady labor market, despite uncertainties regarding future policy directions.

No, pointing out my original point in that biden oversaw a recession which at least one cult member was vehemently denying

None of what you said has anything to do with biden's recession but thanks for your contribution.

Correct. You said cultist in post #29 and my hypocrisy sense tingled. I brought that up specifically and you deflected. I responded, in detail, to the deflection. My summation is you realize you're in a cult, but simply don't care. That's fine. Hell, I even welcome the honesty.

Well I was alive during Carter's horrendous tenure. Where do I start; not having a plan to support, or replace the Shah of Iran allowing the Ayatollahs to destabilize the region for forty years. Carter may not have fired a shot, but the mullahs sure did that Carter allowed to come to power. How many Iranians died as a result of Carter's incompetence.

As Reagan and now Trump have pointed out; allowing Panama to assume control over a canal that we built, (Panama didn't even exist) thereby endangering our national security. China now owns two of the principal ports. Perhaps you recall his grain embargo, which was the start of the farm crisis in the mid-west coupled with astronomical interest rates that he mis-managed. He was a terrible President and why he lost in a landslide.

Which brings us to his post-Presidential years, kudos for all that he did for Habitat for Humanity. But he also meddled in foreign affairs committing treason when he tried to convince our allies during Desert Storm to not support us. Also, numerous trips to foreign countries attempting to represent the US that were not sanctioned by the current command in chiefs, both parties.

The revisionist history being spouted after his death is hysterical, even dems were grateful when he left office.
