It's been 30 years since Iowa had a deep run, we are overdue

You are setting yourself up for a massive disappointment if you think this team has to achieve elite 8. I'm hopeful they do, and I'm hopeful they go even further... but if you want to be honest about it, by the time you get to the second round, just about anything is possible in the NCAA tourney. Every year there are at least 2-3 teams in the elite 8 that don't belong there on paper.

Go Hawks, I hope you are right... but you can't set baselines like that in my opinion.

I'm saying this is the year where it is most likely to happen. I've pointed out 4,288,934,165,302 times that this collection of highly recruited veteran talent (I'm including Jok) won't come along again in your lifetime. Unless you think Frans boyz are gonna be ESPN 100 recruits.

I remember going to the Field House in the middle of the night with maybe 10,000 other Hawk fans to welcome back Lute's final four team, after a remarkable win against a Georgetown team that was supposed to whip Iowa. For me, the second half of the Georgetown game was the best example of an Iowa team playing almost perfect TEAM basketball. This team has a lot of similarities, with players who understand their roles and go out and perform. The final four run was done with Ronnie Lester playing on 1.5 legs, so it isn't like they were that much more talented. Something like that is what Iowa needs to bring the student fan base back to where it was then. It is a realistic possibility!

I was there that night too...I was in the front page pic of the DMR.

I think in this day and age,it may be possible for Iowa to be a top 20 program consistently..Why? Look at the BB talent this state produces compared to 20 years ago. There must be 10 div 1 players a year out of the state. If we can lock down that talent and keep it from going to Kansas or UNC. Hell even players that UNI got would look good in an Iowa uniform. Uthoff and Jok could start for anyone. We used to have to recruit out of state players to compete..Not the case anymore.
