He is our most dynamic player. Defense has been pretty easy on him since he takes away half the field. It is time to give him 2 or 3 touches a game on offense. If nothing else they can use him as a decoy. You have to get creative when your team isn't playing well. Get the ball into the hands of your best players.

Yeah, I've said this too, but met with stern resistance about him getting hurt and such. I'd love to see him line up at WR, and even better, the wildcat.

With how much the defense is reliant on King and Jewell, I would prefer not to get King injured playing WR.

Calm down, David. Think of the poor DB that looks across and sees #14 ready to burn him deep. Anyone can get hurt on any play. Put him in and give him the rock.

True but how does anyone even know he would be good on offense? He is not a speedster so I don't think people would be scared of getting beat deep

Are you kidding me right now? Have you seen him on kick and punt returns? He's one of the fastest on the team the last time I checked, plus he's an athlete. They won't ever do it, but it's fun to talk about it anyway.

He is a pretty good returner I agree. But again how does that mean he would be a good WR?
He isn't one of the fastest on the team I can guarantee that. That is his biggest knock on him is that he doesn't have elite speed. I would bet that even as far as CBs go that he isn't the fastest on the team. He might be a great WR but to think they should just put him in on offense and the offense would be great is naive. Remember how good of an athlete Hester was and how good he was as a returner? He was not a good wr

There is quite a bit of Playstation mentality going on in this thread. King isn't torching many B10 DB's on the go route...as stated above, he is not a flat out burner. No DB would be scared he's simply going to get off the ball and get on top. King has a whole list of qualities that make him the defender that he is...but when I look at them, not many of them universally transfer to the other side of the ball. A few that do: his size, hands, vision...we see that stuff on special teams, so those are good. But then there are qualities like his reading of QBs, creating angles from anticipation, closing speed, tackling technique, etc. There are too many to list, but the point is...just because he is an all-time great Hawkeye defender and a solid special teams return man...his attributes don't mean that he can just line up a beat a B10 DB deep

That and hopefully Mitchell get back involved soon. It's time for Scheel to step up though.

King is good, but he's not going to change the defense around. You risk burning him out during the game and he's already doing as much as he can. Bad idea OP.

Ask Peppers of Michigan how tired he is during the game. I know he plays LB/DB, but does he play most of the snaps on D?

Maybe the team is just flat and waiting to play well against the good teams. Otherwise we could soon be in a position where it is too late.

I'm not sure what the heck the problem is to be honest. It seems like we've got talent where you want to have it, but it's just not coming together quite yet.
I agree. The offense looked pretty good the first two weeks and has looked like a whole different team the last two. Which one is the real Iowa team? My suggestion only fits if the real Iowa team is the ugly one that has shown up the last two weeks. If that's the case, we will have nothing to lose.

If you put King in at WR, you better be damn sure his backup at corner is ready to play full time.

To me, that means it ain't happening. The defense already has enough to worry about without losing it's best corner's effectiveness.

Using your best defender as a gimmick on offense is a bad idea.

I guess if you're Harbaugh and you have 4 star guys coming out of your ears, you can take the risk.

I agree and was only trying to stir up the debate. I do think it is a good idea if we continue to struggle on offense. We have to start getting more first downs or our defense is going to get carved up every week. Unless we keep winning and than you don't change a thing.

Turning over rocks. Like putting King in the wildcat.

Q. Is there a level of -- when something like this happens, is there a level of turning over rocks that we all have to deal with? Does that ever wash up to your shore where C.J. asks for Desmond or anything like that?
KIRK FERENTZ: We certainly -- CJ hasn't said that and nobody has said that, but no, I don't think we're -- this is hardly a crisis stage. We're all really sorry that Matt got hurt, don't get me wrong, I'm not minimizing that, but hey, we're going to play. We've got to play.

It's still time to get creative. Our line isn't good enough to win the standard way. They need to go all in if winning a few more games is the goal.

Mitchell needs more touches running and receiving...I went to my first game in a couple of years and he looks bigger in person than I thought...
