Ivy League cancels all winter sports

Unfortunately I think it’s clear that’s where we are all heading. I’ll be surprised if football makes it to the first week of December.

Unfortunately, Basketball is not going to make it. Great Iowa team that we'll never really know about. Gonna be a long cold winter boyz.

With how much Covid is exploding across the country and the small roster sizes of basketball it's unlikely there won't be disruptions to Iowa's schedule.

But to the point, the Ivy League has hundreds of billions of dollars in annual endowments amongst its institutions. Sports aren't the reason.

Ivy league was probably a given. Still brings light to the possibilities to come.

Personally, I’m feeling very good that the season will go forward and our Hawkeyes will be a top contender for Bigten and NCAA championships.

And yet some of the institutions applied for and received money from the first coronavirus stimulus fund that should have gone to small business owners and citizens trying to stay afloat.

Sports at those elite institutions are closer to what sports used to be like in the early 1900s at all universities; truly amateur. They are essentially insignificant to the institutions as a whole. Harvard would be no less Harvard if it didn't field a basketball team.

There will very likely be hiccups with this b-ball season. As long as they get to play at least some games and have an NCAA tourney it will be a success. Best to enjoy whatever number of games they are able to play.

Unless Warren gets involved. Never going to forget what he did to football. Maybe he’ll wind up in Washington on somebody’s staff.
