If you want better air quality, have you oil and gas produced in the US. It’s been years since our air quality has been cleaner than it is today. And it has to with converting from coal to clean natural gas.

And, the U.S. has the cleanest oil and gas extraction in the world.

And not a single one of those reasons would cause a rational person to push against solar or wind energy.

I want nuclear, but wind and solar are also important. I don't mind drilling, but HATE the idea of opening up more protected lands. Would rather pay a bit more for gas and energy and continue with progress towards sustainable sources. Drill baby drill ain't the panacea that is being sold.

I agree to some extent, but did he really need to shut the pipeline down on day one to fulfill that promise? How about an EO to put together a team to research the best solution to the issue; a transition plan. While I agree we must ween ourselves off fossil fuel dependence, it isn't going to happen over night. If we're looking to protect the environment, then isn't the pipeline a better solution?

Google: In terms of barrels spilled per year, transporting oil and gas by truck is the worst method of transportation. Trucks spilled more oil and gas than both rail and pipeline, averaging around 326 barrels per million tons moved every mile. Road transportation is also closer to the general public.
