I kind of thought it was a sign of disrespect that Izzo had his boys fouling Mike Gesell with 2.5 minutes left. I think Mike took offense as well and drilled those charity buckets just as he should. Obviously Izzo thought putting Mike under pressure would work to his advantage. We see how that worked out.

I have no problem with it. He's just trying to win a game. In most cases, it probably won't work, but at that point, you need misses on the one end and quick scores on the other. Glad that Mike stepped up and drilled them.

He actually got in Harris'(I think)face when he fouled towards the end, saying "didn't I tell you not to foul?"

I thought it was great. He went and got the ball then knocked them down. Great for his psyche.

Mike was fantastic last night...elite level PG play.

I thought it made total sense; if he misses a couple then we likely start to get the "oh, $hit, it's happening again--WE'RE CHOKING". I'll readily admit when it got down to 10 (or 11?) I was starting to get the "oh, God, here it comes" feeling in my gut.
Hopefully MG can use it as a huge building block and relish the pressure for the rest of the season.

It's not disrespect at all. It's simply a head coach trying to win a game by using "analytics" for lack of a better term. MG (and the team as a whole) has had a history of blowing leads late in the game. MG had the ball in his hands, so he's the guy you foul. Good for MG for making the baskets.
I think it was a sign of respect from Izzo that he called off the fouling with about 40 seconds left. Some coaches go until the very end even if the deficit is unattainable.

I was pissed at Uthoff for throwing the ball back to Mike when the pressure came to him late in the game in the backcourt. They're fouling, keep the ball and make the free throws. Fortunately, this time Mikey G. nailed them. 11-13 on the night I believe.

I hate Jok as a ball handler, but late and in fouling mode, I'd rather see us inbound to Jok. He doesn't even have to dribble.
