I know there was a thread about him lower on the board from last week but that guy is unreal. We've had great LBs in the program and he is right up there with any of them.

Glad to see him bounce right back from that shot he took. Made sure to give them from there on out.
He’s legit. Remember seeing him in state basketball tournament here in Des Moines (right around when he committed). Incredible hops and athleticism and me and friends kept say “wait until he is in the Iowa weight room.” Stud and leader.
He will be a rich man in a few years.
Glad someone started this thread. That was as good a single-game performance as I remember from a LB. Benson and Jacobs or Jenkins or whoever he is played great, too, but Campbell played like he was possessed today.

This guy is going to be very good before he is done. He plays fast, downhill and with a nasty streak. Him and Jacobs are athletes I don't mind seeing in coverage from a physical perspective and I am not usually a fan of linebackers vs wide receivers.
Campbell has all the tools and is the total package at LB. Don't see greats like him come along every day. Might be the best we've had under KF.
Watching him break down plays and make tackles, defending passes in coverage and stepping up to make big plays at crucial moments in the game is impressive. This guy is going to make a lot of money playing this game.
I think Jacobs is showing similar promise and looks to have a very good future too. Really have to love our LB’ers. Not sure if they’re in the Hodge/Greenway camp yet but when it’s all said and done, they might have better overall NFL careers.

18 tackles out of 90 for the team. The guy was everywhere yesterday.
Hodge/Greenway is a different animal, in that we now use 3 LBs less. But as 3-LB unit, this is fast approaching the Kirksey/Hitchens/Morris level or the Jewell/B Niemann/Fisher level.
True, but really hard to leave Benson out of the statement. He may be just "a little" less athletic, but he diagnosis quickly and he puts down everyone he gets to. He's playing lights out as well...
I think this current LB crew is the best of the Ferentz era. Time will tell if they can stay at their current level throughout the season.
Campbell, Benson, Jacobs, and Belton (at CASH) give us enormous flexibility in both stopping the run and in pass coverage. I think this group gives us more versatility than any other LB crew under KF, and I think at least 3 of them eventually make NFL rosters.
Extremely impressive bunch, and Jacobs isn’t anywhere close to his ceiling. Also, all 4 are impressive off the field. Very sharp young men. These kids really make you proud to be a Hawk fan.

Yes, he’s the best linebacker in the state of Iowa. I know clown fans liked to say that Mike Rose is best linebacker in the state; however, it’s really not a debate...I would not only take Jack Campbell, but also Benson and Jacobs over Rose too.
Moving Campbell to MLB was the right move. Benson played great at MLB but Campbell adds an unmistakeable presence and dimension and, predictably, Benson has excelled in his new assignment. What a combo !
I think back to that sequence of plays in the ISU game.
1) Jacobs hits Hall, knocks ball out, Campbell picks up loose ball and scores TD
2) Next play, Benson with the INT, which leads to FG, which basically puts game away for good.
Literally, in two plays, our LB crew clinched the game.
They don't think Rose is the best in the state, they think he is best in the nation. I wouldn't trade either Campbell or Jacobs for him. I will admit that he is a very solid linebacker.
Kid is special. His defensive scheme awareness is what amazes me. Remember Wisky last year? His recovery from a tough misdirection run read to pick off a potential TD pass was a play few, if any, former Iowa linebackers make. I was like he could feel that Wisky crossing route and got the depth to cut the ball off.

He's a player. And to me, that's the highest compliment you can give.
Iowaslaw recap post. I asked that question. Jewell and Greenway are consensus AA's for Iowa at LB. I have now come to the conclusion that Campbell may be the best LB under Ferentz.
And even more impressive is the kind of person he is off the field. His girlfriend’s dad is a friend of mine and he can’t say enough good things about the kid. Incredible young man and a true credit to the Tiger Hawk.
