JBo doesn't trust the NCAA, however.I think we all know that a medical would be a given even if he plays some. We have seen it on our own team the last two years.
That seems overly harsh to call Jordan an idiot. Then he is an idiot.

I’m sure he’s crushed. Honesty there is zero reason to not fully expect a waiver to play his 5th year.
Drew Ott on line 3 for you

Totally different circumstances.
Agreed, but to say there is "zero reason" not to expect a waiver is a tad bold.
I would say it is 99.99% sure he will get the extra year.
Just so I'm not confusing myself, the "discussion" is that if he plays some, but then decides to wait until next year, that he'd be 99.99% to get the med RS?

Here are the facts; Joe Muscatine will depart after his
sophomore year for the NBA
It would be nice to have Jordan healthy for the entire
2020-21 season.
This is not a fact until it happens, if it does. This is speculation.

Joe is very talented, but not a NBA lock at this point. Has he even made comments about WANTING to leave early?

At this point we have no idea if he was testing the water, or just getting solid feedback on what he should be working on. I believe he could do the same thing again at the end of this season, and still return as long as he doesn't sign an agent.Other than declaring early?
I kinda wish college basketball had a 4 game rule like football.
Check out the question & Chad's answer.
Wait didn't pemsl play a game and red shirt?
He did what is allowed - he asked for and received evaluation on his draft potential. Really no different than a student completing an optional internship and finding out he needs to improve his public speaking. Work on it and see what happens. Quite frankly, anyone who aspires to have a professional career should take advantage of this option.Other than declaring early?
Quit while you're ahead!Maybe it’s our posters that are the idiots
Cordell played a game then decided that he'd take a medical. But came in to play ISU for a game, knowing he could play up to a certain point. I believe the Cyclown game was the second to last game he could play, and still take the medical. He had a good game, IIRC.
JBo could give it a go and see how the hip feels. No idea how that would effect his rehab and the risk of further injury. But Tyler Ulis has been playing with his brother(there are videos of him and Ahron practicing), and he had a similar situation... People heal differently though.
You have different info than I. My understanding was that Jordan has not yet returned to practice but was starting to work out and do some shooting on his own.Contrary to popular belief it appears that Jordan is going to try to give it a go. There is no other reason for him to dress for practices and go though extreme team work outs and yes, if the hip problem flares up again, he can apply for a medical redshirt as Pemsl did last year.
It sure appears that this scenario is baffling to most of you...

It was a complicated surgery. I spoke to a Dr familiar with Jordan’s situation (not JBo’s doc) and he said that in his opinion no way should Jordan try to play this year because he would be surprised if he could heal that fast. Also sounded as if it was a little questionable whether Jordan would be able to fully recover from the surgery as far as being able to play DI basketball at a high level again. It is not a slam dunk that JBo will ever be 100% but that is of course what they are hoping for.
