I feel fine contributing to SWARM and I feel even better calling out stiffs like you who don't.See your just being an idiot. Hopefully you know that, and your just trolling. Iowa will receive 80-100 MILLION dollars just from the B1Gs TV contract per year. We sell out Kinnick. They'll have the money to pay players. NO it won't be nearly as much as OSU, Michigan, Texas, USC, etc... It NEVER has had that kind of money and it NEVER will have. As I said the best thing that could happen once they start paying that 20% to the players is for these collectives to be banned. They are not NIL, and we will NEVER compete with the big dogs for this "bag o cash" and thats all they are. I don't believe our position as a second level p4 school will change from all this, the TV money will see to that. The issue here is some people have convinced themselves that this "cash war" was going to benefit schools like Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin etc... etc... and that simply is not the case. Feel free to continue to contribute though if this makes you feel like more of a fan, and not someone who has been duped....
Outstanding for you. So at last count they had about 2000 members. Maybe you should let the vast majority Of Iowa fans know that they're stiffs, who haven't been duped like you have.I feel fine contributing to SWARM and I feel even better calling out stiffs like you who don't.
LOL - Buying a hotdog and coke doesn't bring in better players, sorry that you believe it does. Buying a ball cap also doesn't bring in better players sorry you believe it does.Outstanding for you. So at last count they had about 2000 members. Maybe you should let the vast majority Of Iowa fans know that they're stiffs, who haven't been duped like you have.
Try to keep up here to just how stupid this is. So fans pay for tickets, concessions, merch AND TV revenue. They ARE the payers already. Thats WHERE all the money comes from. The Media companies and athletic dept charge "the fans" in order to collect all the $$. They are the wealth gatherers. THEN they want "the fans" to double down AGAIN and pay high school kids and transfers to go to school for a free education worth 100's of thousands, even though the Athletic dept, and the media outlets are the ones gathering all the wealth, NOT the fans who get ZERO financial gain. And you think that "the fans" should foot the bill to pay players as well. Absolutely ridiculous.....
Jezuscrist, doesn't anyone follow the goddamn rules around here anymore?!The Iowa program is just plain stale. Watching them play is like having to spend a Saturday at grandma's house with no internet or cable TV. ....

Donating to the Swarm doesn't bring better players. Cade wouldn't play at NIU. Keep throwing your money at the Swarm so the CEO can feel super important while adding little value to the actual athetic departments. You got duped. Just admit it.....or don't.LOL - Buying a hotdog and coke doesn't bring in better players, sorry that you believe it does. Please provide more information on how you the fan brings in TV revenue, I can't wait to hear that lame story.
Jezuscrist, doesn't anyone follow the goddamn rules around here anymore?!
The money the University brings in from Athletics is all eaten up by the Athletic Department. The Academic side doesn’t get any of that except for payments from the Athletic Department to repay money the University loaned it for the revenue lost to the Covid year. Prior to Covid there were a few years when the Athletic Department gave a million or two to the Academic side but that was rare and stopped with Covid. I think it would be great if the Athletic Department could give 5 million per year to the Academic programs over and above paying for scholarships. With the college sports landscape as it is now I don’t see that ever happening.100% this. NIL and the collectives are a disaster. People are free to do what they want with their money, but the whole financial structure of college athletics is crazy to me...
The university collects MILLIONS for the entertainment value that the players/coaches provide. Yet they don't have to pay the players anything other than scholarships and some other perks. Universities are having their cake and eating it too.
At some point there has to be salary paid by the school, with salary caps. No idea what this does to all the other sports teams that are funded by football. A lot of funding to other programs will have to be slashed to pay football players to keep the cash cow going.
Who do you think pays these companies to have access to these sports packages, and the B!G network, and streaming services? Who do you think pays for the tickets to games. Take a breath, and pull your head out of your A--......LOL - Buying a hotdog and coke doesn't bring in better players, sorry that you believe it does. Buying a ball cap also doesn't bring in better players sorry you believe it does.

We recruit skill positions? Who knew! The talent gap was very glaring last night. did u see how many UCLA guys were out because of injury? they were waaaay more banged up than us. our recruiting has been poor the last few yrs esp at the skill positions.
Exactly, and the problem is too vast to unwind under KF’s watch. It’s just a mess.Try for 25 years esp at the skill positions
He hasn't looked particularly good either this year or last when he was healthy, but I bet Kirk can't wait to run him back out there as soon as he's able.okay....u do not/will not know if i or others belong to the swarm.
how is the ROIC of the swarm money this yr? As an investor i would like to know what kind of returns we produced vs others who spent similiar amounts. we have a few areas of need that the coaches should have known to address and did not. Cade has been a big bust as far as a return. Until we see better results on the investment, people will have trouble donating more.
LOL - What the University brings in from ticket sales is peanuts compared to what they get from TV revenue which by the way is funded by sponsors who pay big money to run commercials on.Who do you think pays these companies to have access to these sports packages, and the B!G network, and streaming services? Who do you think pays for the tickets to games. Take a breath, and pull your head out of your A--......
DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Exactly, and the problem is too vast to unwind under KF’s watch. It’s just a mess.
On one hand he says stupid shit like “we shop for talent at different stores.” It’s his job to compete for talent, and he’s used the Iowa excuse for decades. Somehow other small market schools find ways to attract talent.
On another, he can’t attract talent to play here because his philosophies are so antiquated (every single one of them BTW) that nobody in their right mind would play here while he’s the face of the program.
I guess you have to let him hang around and drive the program into the tank while he pursues Woody’s record, but at what cost? Doner and fan apathy, lost recruits, perception of the program, questions about racial discrimination that KF claims he didn’t know existed… If he’s that asleep at the wheel (and he certainly is) it’s finally, mercifully just time to run his ass out. He will not go on his own.
Iron Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul HAS NOTHING ON KCEASTHAWK VS RICOSUAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Who do you think pays these companies to have access to these sports packages, and the B!G network, and streaming services? Who do you think pays for the tickets to games. Take a breath, and pull your head out of your A--......
And what you think your donation and the other 1999 dupes paying high school players is doing anything? Waste of money, and doing absolutely nothing to stay anywhere near the OSU's of the game, and never will. Talk about clueless......I'll guarantee you those tickets, seat premiums, merch, and media payments add up to WAY more money then what the swarm is raising because most people realize that "the fan's" should not be paying players.....LOL - What the University brings in from ticket sales is peanuts compared to what they get from TV revenue which by the way is funded by sponsors who pay big money to run commercials on.
Your season ticket and occasional t shirt purchase does nothing to lure top talent to Iowa City. Get a clue you are doing zero, zilch, nada, to help the Hawkeyes.
Exactly. SWARM doesn’t bring any value. Whoever performs talent evaluation, acquisition, retention, and value estimation does, with the money they receive from SWARM.Donating to the Swarm doesn't bring better players. Cade wouldn't play at NIU. Keep throwing your money at the Swarm so the CEO can feel super important while adding little value to the actual athetic departments. You got duped. How much of that goes to the players? And what you think your donation and the other 1999 dupes paying high school players is doing anything? Talk about clueless......I'll guarantee you those tickets, seat premiums, merch, and media payments add up to WAY more money then what the swarm is raising because most people realize that "the fan's" should not be paying players.....
I hope someone can jump in on this one. Last I recall, for 2025, wasn’t the approximate ceiling the school can divvy out to all of their athletes in the neighborhood of $20-22 million? This includes all sports, and you can’t keep an organization from paying someone for odd jobs, so unfortunately, NIL/collectives will remain a thing.‘So fans pay for tickets, concessions, merch AND TV revenue. They ARE the payers already. Thats WHERE all the money comes from. The Media companies and athletic dept charge "the fans" in order to collect all the $$. They are the wealth gatherers.’
I need a little help. Can you let all of us know how much of this wealth can be transferred from the school to the players? I mean on top of their scholarships and other payments allowed by the NCAA. It must be substantial. I look forward to your insight.
So that huge amount of payors money is the same at all schools?I hope someone can jump in on this one. Not a penny of the tickets, seat premiums, merch and media payments go to players. It goes to everyone but the players. And what you think your donation and the other 1999 dupes paying high school players is doing anything? Could be the same, but most likely not. For P2 schools and maybe some non-P2, albeit fewer. So that huge amount of payors money is the same at all schools?
So collectives will still be an important part? Contrary to what the clueless posters think?
See my post to Rico...‘So fans pay for tickets, concessions, merch AND TV revenue. They ARE the payers already. Thats WHERE all the money comes from. The Media companies and athletic dept charge "the fans" in order to collect all the $$. They are the wealth gatherers.’

I apologize for not stating this more clear. I'm aware that ticket sales don't go to the players. My point was that "the fans" already pay for all these things including seat charges and many things that keep funding the schools and the media which gives THEM the schools and media the opportunity to generate this tremendous wealth. Its from those entities the money to pay players their share should come from. They ( the media and schools) gather this wealth, hence they should be the ones paying. "The fans" already pay their share in this process, and they get zero financial gain from any of this, so asking them to double down and also pay the players on top of that seems absurd. Not a penny of the tickets, seat premiums, merch and media payments go to players. Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, etc disagree that it's absurd.I apologize for not stating this more clear. I'm aware that ticket sales don't go to the players. Lolol. Thank you. We have NEVER and will NEVER have the resources in tradition, recruiting resources, or $$$$ to compete with those schools much the same as most of the remaining P4 schools. We'll just disagree if you think the swarm or any such collective is going to get Iowa or 40-50 other schools anywhere near that top group. We'll spend more money and they'll spend even more, and we won't make up a bit of ground. The best thing that could possibly happen is if the top schools went their merry way with their wagon load of cash. While I can admire your steadfast belief that we will somehow overtake this discrepency, I don't see that ever happening, and its not just Iowa, its all but a handful of schools. Remember too once "the fans" throw this money in the pot, its gone if we stay right where we are in recruiting, games won etc...which is exactly what I'd predict will happen. No refund, no consolation, just buyers remorse..Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, etc disagree that it's absurd.
I'll just disagree on the last paragraph. This system as it is currently is not going to stand the test of time. All these P4 teams will do their best to hang in for a few years, maybe longer, and I'd bet 6,8,10 years from now its going to have been those same teams winning titles that have been for most of the last 25 years. This system isn't going to fix the "rich getting richer". Its only going to highlight the disparity even more. Then these groups, collectives, and certainly the average fans are going to look back at this and think, "just what in the hell am I giving this money for exactly"."Its from those entities the money to pay players their share should come from."
should but currently don't
"hence they should be the ones paying"
they will be, but it will be the same at each of the schools
"The fans" already pay their share in this process, and they get zero financial gain from any of this, so asking them to double down and also pay the players on top of that seems absurd.
Very true, but even though it is absurd it is the current and in the near future the reality. People can object on principal(my father would have been one) and hope that others pick up the slack or Iowa can become Purdue without the basketball accomplishments.
Kind of like taxes, you can b*tch about them all you want but they aren't going anywhere.
I believe you are wrong especially if you focus on basketball, if you can bring in 2 exceptional players because of NIL then you can make a run for a Elite 8 or beyond. You seem to blame the NIL for failure in getting the school near the top group. It is up to the coaches to identify the players they need and then see if the NIL can come up with necessary resources to secure that player. We the fans should be the ones supporting the NIL and ensuring they have the funding needed.Lolol. Thank you. Outstanding. We will in fact agree to disagree. I do find it interesting that you just switched your argument to basketball, to me acknowledging that we will NEVER compete with the top schools on a $$ basis in football. (You know the sport that actually pays for all the others in the athletic program). I'll just take my opposing point right from your last sentence. At NO point now or EVER should "we the fans" be the ones paying players. Not now not ever.I believe you are wrong especially if you focus on basketball, if you can bring in 2 exceptional players because of NIL then you can make a run for a Elite 8 or beyond. And so do the courts.Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, etc disagree that it's absurd.
Lololol.. Oh, do they now? What the courts signed off on as NIL has nothing at all to do with whats currently going on with these, "collectives" gathering funds and paying players.....And so do the courts.
I don’t dispute the initial intention, but they have also offered opinion on pay for work, contractual or otherwise. Regardless, the collectives will continue to redefine the compensated job role, and the litigation will keep popping up. If someone wants to accept pay for work, it’s hard to argue the illegality of it. Even if you and I, or anyone else, would dispute said “work.”Lololol.. Oh, do they now? What the courts signed off on as NIL has nothing at all to do with whats currently going on with these, "collectives" gathering funds and paying players.....
I'd agree totally. This is a mess created over years of NCAA malfeasance, and the courts opening other issues which will be ongoing. Are they "employees". Unionization battles etc.. This will only get worse before we see much clarity...I don’t dispute the initial intention, but they have also offered opinion on pay for work, contractual or otherwise. In other words, I don’t disagree with you, and I think this isn’t good for CFB, but legally this is a tough fight.
If the Swarm would concentrate on providing money for the basketball program, I might be willing to give even more than I currently do. Football doesn't seem to be providing much in the way of positive returns. Wonder how much McNamara is getting for his mediocre play.I believe you are wrong especially if you focus on basketball, if you can bring in 2 exceptional players because of NIL then you can make a run for a Elite 8 or beyond.
